You could do what i did in San Antonio years ago. I converted my garage into a family room. The A/C vent already was in there. Left the doors intact, placed a 2X4 frame against the doors, insulated it, paneled it, and insulated the ceiling and walls. Outside looked like a garage, but you would have to drive a large truck through it to break in. It was removable, so when I moved, the new owner was able to take it down, and use as a garage again. Great family room, too.

Thanks for all the replys & suggestions. I ended up putting it in my closet in the master bedroom which even with an applaince dolly was not easy. I also mounted it to the slap with 4 concrete anchors, plus the opening side is next to the wall which will make using a pry bar hard to do.
While I realize that a true professional thief could get into it with little effort providing they have the right tools. However, I doubt that the common buglar/drug addict is going to have any luck with. One thing I do know for sure is that I feel more secure now vs. before I got it.
Plus now that I have the safe, I can get back to purchasing the perfect number of guns that every man should own, which is ONE MORE!!!!

and if your anything like me, you will have an irresistible urge to fill up every open gun slot in it.

Before you know it, you will need a bigger safe.
You definitely did the right thing installing it the way you did. Hardening the target is all important.
