There are only 4 categories of messages that the DPS website has:
1. Packet mailed to Applicant (for those that applied online)
2. Processing Application
3. Incomplete Information - Letter Mailed to Applicant
and
4. Processing Complete - License Active or Issued.

It's a shame they don't have 2 or 3 more categories, to keep applicants off their back and better informed, but they don't.

Well neither have I! I was transferred and it went straight to voice mail....left message and still waiting on call back. Maybe you need to call and "check on the status" of your app. ;-)

Oh,I talked to them 3 times this week! Three different answers!

Ya know there's a couple of people there, when you get them on the phone they are really trying to help. :tiphat:

Then there is another one or two that I get the same answer from and it seems like they are not really checking for trying to resolve anything for you. Just my opinion!

Well one thing for sure.....you sure won't have to wait to long until you talk to somebody! Ask who ever answers the phone that you'd like to talk to the tech handling your file, and what their name is. ;-) Couldn't hurt.

Yeah, like the following (your original ones are in blue):

1. Packet mailed to Applicant (for those that applied online)

1.5 Received application from applicant

1.6 Inspecting packet for extra forms

1.6.1 Determining if extra forms warrant detailed letter

1.7 Lunch (10:30-2:30)

1.8 Wiping spilled coffee off of fingerprint cards

1.8.1 Reject fingerprint cards as unusable

1.8.2 Throw passport pictures into trash with discarded (unneeded) forms.

2. Incomplete Information - Letter Mailed to Applicant because:

a) Missing passport photos

b) Unusable fingerprint cards (stained with coffee)

c) Payment refused - drawn on bank that isn't in financial trouble

d) Applicant doesn't have health care

3. Processing Application

3.1 Dispatch Pony Express rider to one or more county courts to personally conduct background check. State labor laws prevent rider from traveling between 5pm and 9am (evening hours), and each again between 10:30am and 2:30 pm (lunch).

3.2 Conduct surveillance on applicant

3.3 Analyze satellite photos of applicant's property

3.4 Analyze applicants internet browsing habits

3.5 Obtain okay from Obama for applicant to get a license for anything

3.6 Obtain and sift through 30 days of garbage generated by applicant's household

3.7 Locate and analyze all bodily excretions in the last five years.

4. Processing Complete - License Active or Issued.

4 (a) Application denied (Pony Express rider missing)

4 (b) Application denied (this is No Activation Wednesday)

4 (c) Application denied (because we can)

4 (d) Application denied (you'll shoot your eye out)

5. Printing license

6. License mailed to applicant

They couldn't find anyone willing to ride a horse AND do the cavity searches.
