My understanding is that the sign is a notification that what is normally a misdemeanor is a felony if it happens in that business because that is what state law indicates. The business itself can't just decide that they want it to be a felony.

:...more and more businesses are popping up these 30.06 signs?"

I can count on one hand all the 30.06 signs I see around here. Besides, I don't know how I can write a letter to some mall that is 240 miles away talling them I won't be doing any business there.

You can post your own "unlicensed possession of a handgun is forbidden here." sign, it doesn't have to be a TABC sign. It's sort of like a "gunbusters" sign if you word it yourself with similar (not same) wording. Liberals who are not familiar with guns will not make the distinction between unlicensed and licensed. They will see the sign and say, "hey, gun-free zone, cool." We will see the sign and say, "hey, I'm licensed, cool." That way, the mall will be able to please everybody and make money. If they were to just remove the 30.06 signs, it might be harder for us to persuade them to do so.

Come on guys, post your letters here and get a free heirloom quality custom holster !

(you may censor/exclude personally identifiable info such as your name address)

P.S. Isn't the UNLICENSED possession of a handgun (carrying without a CHL) a felony anyways? You're just notifying them of the law. How can that be a misdemeanor? As long as the sign is not worded as nor claimed to be a TABC sign, it should be fine, just like gunbuster signs are fine.

bdickens: When I lived out in the country, I used to drive over 60 miles into town every weekend to go shopping. When I lived in Oklahoma, I used to drive into Dallas every month for ethnic food. Yes, you can shop regularly at a mall over 200 miles away. After you write and post your letters, I'll probably be sending YOU a free holster since nobody else has responded to my post. (argh).

Luby's yeah, because no one would ever need a gun in there, right? :grumble
I don't have a problem with that sign at all. We are talking about the "unlicensed possession" one, correct?

Sure you can, but you specifically added "is a felony" in your initial post.

It is not a felony unless the establishment sells alcoholic beverages. Everywhere else it is a Class A misdemeanor.

Always vote with your Dollar, If you disagree with it don't shop there, don't take your family there, ask your freinds to stay away and tell them why.

:eek6 Luby's is posted! I didn't frequent Luby's because I don't care for bland food. Now there is reason #2 why I won't go near one.

BTW, the shot up Luby's in Killeen hasn't been a Luby's for 4-5 or more years now.

OK, due to non-response, I'll step it up a notch. The first person who posts a copy of their letters will get a holster. Subsequent posters will get a dice roll and if the dice hits snake eyes (2 ones) then I'll mail you a holster. I will give away a minimum of 1 holster and a maximum of 2 holsters.

C'mon, y'all! Political apathy is what got us 0bama, socialism, arms control, and moral decline. I invite you to get writing, Now! (thanks)

TimM just posted a letter on The High Road forum. I'm sending him a holster. Guys, post your letters and I'll roll the dice to see if you get a holster, too!

TimM's post:

P.S. If any of you guys want to help, I invite you to post here an offer to randomly pick a person who writes letters and give this person a prize, such as a gun (by legal means such as FFL to FFL) or some gun product or perhaps you could give away an NRA membership (it comes with a neat gun magazine subscription).

Matrix68 on our forum just PMed me after writing his congressman and senator, so he won the 2nd and last holster that I'm giving away. I invite you to continue writing your congressman and senators, but the free holster contest is over.

I haven't found one in years.

Good place to work on concealed carry in a public place. Northeast Mall has nice leather chairs outside of Penney's for all the old farts (yep, I qualify) :evil2:

That's where I need to take my wife when she makes me go Christmas shopping with her. I know right where to go to park myself, so she can find me. :willynilly: :ack:
