+1 on the Buffalo Bill (and Winchester Firearm) Museum in Cody, WY.Oldgringo wrote:Before one decides on one's favorite gun museum, a couple of days in the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, WY is suggested.
I visited the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody back in 1967. I was a callow youth at the time (15 yrs old), but I remember being impressed with it. I would like to take my wife and son there sometime.Oldgringo wrote:Before one decides on one's favorite gun museum, a couple of days in the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, WY is suggested. There are so many guns in that museum that I became dizzy; PLUS, Cody is a really neat and clean little western city.
We can recommend the Ponderosa RV Park for your stay there.

I was thinking the same thing! I was stationed there for a year and the variety of historic weapons, bombs, tanks, artillery, and everything else under the sun is staggering. Definitely worth checking out for the cool photo ops., next time you're in Baltimore area.dayo wrote:The back room at the Army Ordinance Museum at Aberdeen proving ground. Quite a collection.
Its now in the Sanders Corps of Cadets center.joe817 wrote:There used to be a huge collection of antique guns in the student center on the campus of Texas A&M. I don't know if it's still there. Tried looking for it last night on A&M's website but couldn't find it. It was several years ago the last time I saw it.

Small world. I too remember going through the hotel to see the guns. I remember the moving into the new museum building. I've got to make a return trip someday.PappaGun wrote:Ditto this!InfoTechCHL2007 wrote:J. M. Davis Gun Museum in Claremore, Oklahoma.

I used to visit his collection when it was in his hotel (WAY back in the 60's) as a child. When they moved it to the museum it was expanded.

I remember there is (or used to be) a tank out in front. Was it a Sherman? I can't recall.jbirds1210 wrote:InfoTechCHL2007 wrote:J. M. Davis Gun Museum in Claremore, Oklahoma.

I think that might be a Light Tank M-24 "Chaffee", circa Korean War/Conflict...if anyone cares.I'm not up on my tanks , but click on the link to the museum in a previous post and there is a picture of it on their home page.
Thank you! I have not been in a while and could not recall what it looked like exactly.Oldgringo wrote:I think that might be a Light Tank M-24 "Chaffee", circa Korean War/Conflict...if anyone cares.I'm not up on my tanks , but click on the link to the museum in a previous post and there is a picture of it on their home page.
I never saw the colection when it was at the hotel, but we went to the museum a lot over the years. I'll be up that way again for the holidays. My children would love it.PappaGun wrote:Ditto this!InfoTechCHL2007 wrote:J. M. Davis Gun Museum in Claremore, Oklahoma.

My favorite has always been the rifle that shoots around corners.
