I just checked and MidwayUSA wants $29.95+shipping. I will probably get one. I have one of the H&K plastic ones and its not worth eight rotten eggs. The speed loaders that came with my pistols work better than my thumbs but not as good and the Uplula.

Uplula's are great but the XDGear one is free. It works well if you sand the inside a little bit so that it feeely slides back up from the magazine's spring pressure.

Biggest advantage of the UpLULA (I had to look at mine to see how they spelled the term, and since it's trademarked I guess I'll stay with the caps) is that you can toss one device in your range bag, and it'll work on all your defensive-caliber pistols. Personally, I don't find it of much use on tiny mags like the P3AT's, but then I don't have to load those very often. With 9mm and up, especially for high-volume training courses, busy range days, or even IDPA or USPSA, the Uplula is as handy as sliced bread.
I think I tried the included XD loader only one time, and I have four XDs. The problem I have with it is that the little depressor tab (for want of an accurate term: the thing that actually presses down on the top cartridge in the mag to let you insert another on top of it) is in a fixed, vertical position and pushes down just about at the center of the ammo case. While this does push the top cartridge down for you, it means the new cartridge is able to slide in only halfway. You have to go fairly slowly and carefully to make certain the mag's feed lips catch the casing, and then you have manually seat the cartridge with your thumb after you release the downward pressure from the depressor tab.
The ingenious, spring-loaded design of the UpLULA, though, uses a depressor tab that is mounted horizontally, integral to the front of the loader, and it slopes down at about a 45-degree angle. The result is that, as you depress the top cartridge in the magazine, you have a clear space to drop the new one all the way to the rear of the mag. Once you get used to the squeeze-and-release operation of the spring-loaded front section of the UpLULA, it's very quick to use.
I've always wondered why they put that little locking button on it, the one that can keep the spring-loaded portion in a closed position, but as I write this it occurs to me that might be a big asset to folks who have bad arthritis or very little hand strength: once locked in the closed position, you could press down on the top of the UpLULA with the base of the mag resting on a stable surface, and not have to use finger strength at all in order to insert a new round. A lot slower, but I'm glad they thought of it.

I've got 3: one for my 1911, one from my wife's XD9, and one for my M1A. They're great for loading a bunch of mags and keep you from getting a tired thumb at the range! They are a bit pricey, but I highly recommend them for thier intended purpose.

Outstanding accessory. And it's made in Israel, so you know you're getting quality goods.
