Jack at Comp-Tac knows what he's doing when he makes a belt. Good product + quality workmanship.

1.5" wide belts are great except my darn blackberry from work won't clip over it. Also I have found the belts with the multiple holes (versus the standard 5 ?) makes it a little nicer when you put on or take off a few pounds.

So is there a general rule about when to get a reinforced belt (i.e polymer insert)? I've ordered an Instructor Belt from Wilderness tactical, but I thought I'd order a leather belt from someone to compare. I'll be carrying an FNP-9 (+16 rounds) in a Crossbreed Supertuck. I may add some kind of concealable magazine pouch at a later date.

Would I be okay to go with any of the find 2-layer belts (CrossBreed, Belt Man, Com-Tac, etc.) or should I order one that's 2-layers and a reinforced insert? If it helps, I've got a 36 inch waist... was 34 before I got married.

Comp-Tac has the insert = 2-layers and a reinforced insert. (And it's the only one I know of you can get BOTH insert AND Velcro ... in case you want the Velcro Clips from Crossbreed etc later for your Crossbreed Supertuck.)

I wear a 36 waist "tight since Thanksgiving" pants when not carrying; I can fit a Glock in my 36" waisted jeans pretty easy, I ordered a 40" Comp-Tac belt. I can wear it in any except the loosest hole, depending if I'm carrying 1 Glock, or wearing my new 38" pants/jeans/shorts with 2 Glocks, 2 Glocks+PF9+PT-709.

You don't order gunbelts by your regular belt size.

Different Companies measure differently. Some say measure a normal belt from wherever the tang goes through the normal or the middle hole. Others say measure from where the belt folds over onto the buckle.
Be sure you measure however wherever you order from says to measure.

Some companies offer Velcro, some offer Reinforcment, none I found other than Comp-Tac offer both on the same belt.

I've been wearing a 1 3/4" Torel leather gun belt for a couple of years now that I purchased at Carter's Country. It is a solid gun belt that is the best I have ever worn besides a Sam Browne. It's going to last a very long time, it's comfortable, has excellent holster retention, and is very reasonable in price. I ordered a spare black and a spare brown one online direct from Torel. Hey, I know it's not a well known name; but these belts are solid! And, no I am not affiliated with them in any matter.

I have the Comtac belt with the Kydex insert as well and it is great. Thinner than a thick double leather belt but really support good. The contour is nice and after a year still looks good and wears great.

If your buying a Hume holster, which by the way, the 715 is a good clip-on holster, consider buying a Hume belt. They make several, even one in brown, which I own one. Good sturdy belt, not kydex reinforced, but it as held up for several years for me.

I bought one of these and it's a really nice belt for the money. Very stiff and wears well... absolutely no complaints. I could have easily paid $50 for a belt of this quality.
