I chose the MTAC over the crossbreed for one main reason. The Crossbreed's kydex does not fully cover the barrel of the gun and I heard of 1 instance that the barrel was rubbing a spot in their jeans wearing it out. Again I have heard this from one person, and could be an isolated incident but it does make sense.

From reviews, they are both great holsters and there is very little cons about each one that you can actually find. I am sure you will be happy with either purchase, since I went with the MTAC I can tell you, you will not be disappointed in it.

My MTAC arrived yesterday morning. I holstered up and carried all day. It is incredibly comfortable!

I also received my MTAC yesterday. I now have both the MTAC and the Crossbreed. The MTAC leather is more appealing than the Crossbreed, and I was able to adjust the depth of the holster so I get a better grip during the draw while the gun rides at the depth I prefer.

The kydex of the Crossbreed fits my gun much better, which will probably result in less finish wear on the pistol. I have also modified the cut and design of the leather on the Crossbreed to better fit my needs. Because of the stitched design of the MTAC you cannot modify the cut of the leather. (Not that I think it needs it.)

Both are quality products and comfortable to wear. You can't go wrong with either. Although the Crossbreed has a lifetime warranty, I can't envision either failing through normal use. The exception to failure could be the kydex shell. I intend to contact Comp Tac about a better fit for the kydex. If I can obtain a better fit, I think I would prefer the MTAC.

In my initial search for a hybrid iwb holster, I had dismissed the MTAC outright, as being too expensive. (I think I looked at different models, and came to a bad conclusion.)

I focused on the Crossbreed Supertuck exclusively. I had read a few reviews where the reviewer had ripped his shirt on the exposed "rivets."

So because of this thread, I took a closer look at the mtac, the price is about the same as the Crossbreed, but has an additional piece of leather on the back to cover the rivets. It also appears to have the "Combat cut," that you would have to pay extra for on the Crossbreed.
I'm a bonehead when it comes to DIY, I would wind up ruining an otherwise very good holster.

I'm going to slow down, and do a little more research. I'll be ordering in the next few weeks.

This is all good feedback, but I'm still not convinced that I know which one to order. I may just have to join the multiple holster box club!
I found a review of a Crossbreed vs. MTAC and the reviewer found the MTAC better held the gun in place, whereas the Crossbreed let the gun move around while holstered.

Being new to handguns (about 6 months) and CHL, I also had to decide on an IWB for a G19. There are alot of different options out there which make things really tough. I read and watched review after review until my head was spinning. I was wanting to be as cost effective as possible with buying the right holster from the start. Well, I came to the conclusion that the one and only "right" holster for me was probably not in the cards for the first purchase because of my lack of experience and the vast number of possibilities. I just told myself that I needed to make a decision and wound up getting the MTAC. The tipping point was the youtube review of the torn shirt from the crossbreed rivets.

The MTAC seems to be a pretty nice holster but then again, I have no experience with any other holsters. I find myself adjusting the MTAC in position and cant (sp) many times trying to get the perfect position while allowing for the least possible amount of printing and the most comfortable feel. I still have trouble with the grip printing when bending over and touching my toes. It will take me some time to find the right spot and get used to it since I have never carried before.

Just thought I'd share a greenhorn take on the holster situation.

That's the beauty of the Comp-Tac holsters -- lots of adjustability to find the sweet spot.

Don't bend over and touch your toes. Bend from the knees, not the waist (unless your knees are already too messed up to allow it). MHO

My experience so far, is better holster fit for the gun with the Crossbreed vs. the MTAC. I ordered the Crossbreed without the combat cut so I could make the cut the way I wanted. Another modification to the Crossbreed was to shorten the bottom skirt so it did not interfer with my wallet on my strong side back pocket. I wear my rig at 4:30 and the barrel of my gun stops just above my wallet pocket. The kydex holster on the MTAC extends about 1 1/4" below my gun barrel. If I keep the MTAC I will need to shorten the kydex so it will not interfer with my wallet. I have had no problems with the rivets on the Crossbreed and don't see how they could damage a shirt. I thought the damage to the shirt was caused by the spring steel clips which hold the rig in place. My solution, was to order the J hooks which are made of a composite material. In addition the J hooks are less noticable. We all have different body types, therefore what works for one may not work for another. However, it's a lot of fun to shop and compare. Enjoy!
The J hooks are 5.00 additional and Crossbreed gives a 10% discount to NRA members.

Bottom line is you most likely can't go wrong with either of them. Flip a nickel, call heads or tails, and go with it.
