That's a great scene. I remember watching a show about the making of that and they talked about different things they could do and I think Harrison Ford suggested shooting him. He did a lot of his own stunts back then and figured he'd be tired and had the gun, so he figured why not just shoot him. Works for me.

I heard it as, he had the runs from the bad water in the area, he said something to extent of "Why dont I just shoot the guy" they laughed and then did it.

thats what i heard also I think the scene would make an awesome pepto comercial " nauasa, heart burn , indejestion, upset stomach....... JUST SHOOT THE GUY"
