Awesome, thanks! I still haven't gotten the 30-30 out to the range, but when I do, I will probably try the iron sights first. If I do wind up getting a scope, this will probably be the one I buy.

BTW, the scope retails for $100.

Outers has some inexpensive see thru mounts, but the scope may be a little high. I don,t think you need more than a 4x scope. good luck.

here's my 1973 Marlin 336 with it's original Bushnell Sportview 3-9 scope. A couple of years ago I stripped it down, had the barrel re-blued, the receiver beadblasted (too dinged for a nice blue job) and I refinished the wood with hand rubbed Danish oil. The scope is mounted on the original "see through rings" and the whole rig is very capable of 1 MOA at 100 yards from a rest. The see throughs are available for the Marlin almost anywhere that sells anything gun related. I see them on the rack at WalMart occassionally, and they are very versitle for those that like irons, but occassionally have the opportunity to take longer shots from a rest.

I have a Winchester model 94 that I thought I couldn't mount a scope on until recently because of the top ejection. I finally found out it has a slanted ejection therefore a scope can be mounted. I will be mounting a Redfield Revolution 3-9X50 scope (Academy now carries them) and load it with Hornady Leverevolution ammo. Then I'll mount a good sling. Nice back up hog rig.

Apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but I wanted to let you know I'm driving to Cabela's in Fort Worth this afternoon to pick up one of these scopes. They have them on sale for under $50!

I'm taking the 30-30 out deer hunting for the first time next week, so wish me luck. ;-)
