I do have England making it to the semis, only to lose to Brazil.
74novaman, you couldn't have said it better! Spain for the win. lol. I've always been a fan of spain as I my family knew alot of spaniards and then i started to follow em thru streaming all the way from 2002. Always one of the teams that underperformed, but they showed they are ready for the big stage from Eurocup of 2008 which they won by the way, and then the Confederations cup a year ago!
Also, I do wonder how Africa's first world cup will be. At the moment, it seems like the transportation and stadiums have been well taken care of. At the least, I hope there are no riots and things dont get out of control!
Cant wait till 48 hours from now! Countdown... 10....9....8....7......6...5....4....3...

Any thoughts on who's going to win, who's going to crash and burn, etc?
Chime in if you're counting down to June 11th like I am!!

I had to check into this thread, finally, to find out what this "World Cup" is and see if is anything like the Wimbledon Cup.
The only thing that excites me about June 11th is that my vacation starts.

I'm very much looking forward to it. Just need to go out and put a flag of St George on my truck.
I actually saw the US play in the flesh, during the qualifiers for the last one. It was a thoroughly enjoyable game.

Members of the Portuguese media contingent covering the 2010 Soccer World Cup tournament were robbed at gunpoint.... here we go
One of the comments isn't that far from the truth:
Welcome to South Africa Portugal. My sympathy with your ordeal - i'm sure the robbers did not know you were Portugese. They know they are welcome to rob and kill South Africans but were asked by our president to give you a break during the world cup. But then the world cup did not start yet - maybe a little confusion.

Fun trivia: The draw for World Cup groups gets more viewers across the world than the Super Bowl and MLB "World Series" combined.
So in other words, more people are interested in watching a fat dude draw names out of a bowl for the World Cup than are interested in watching the pinnacle of US football or baseball.

The sad part is that the draw isn't really a genuine totally random draw. Out of the 4 teams in a group the top 8 seeds are already alloted into seperate groups from the get go. Then the draw is done from the region pools. Pacific Rim, South America etc. Notice South Korea and North Korea can't possibly play each other until well into the knockout stage. I wouldn't be surprised if politics and bribery weren't rampant!
Having said that....I can't wait for kick off.

It was an exciting game, to say the least.
Our back 4 need to figure out man marking....
Tim Howard is a beast! He deserved Man of the Match, hands down.
