Now this is odd: The two men in the truck were illegal immigrants. They pled guilty Tuesday to entering the U.S. illegally and began serving sentences of "10 days and 45 days..."

Being an illegal alien in possession of firearms is a big-time federal offense, but there is no mention of that. Normally it takes a couple of weeks to get indictments.

I agree. For them to get 10 days & 45 days.....something doesn't sound right. There's a lot more than what little news is leaked out, I think. We don't know what we don't know. ;-)

I realized later, by getting the suspects to plead guilty to being in the country illegally, the feds now don't have to prove that in a later trial for illegal weapons possession or conspiracy to export weapons illegally (which is where I'm guessing this affair is headed).
