Oh, I'm sure! Working while worrying about ones own family has to be rough...mucho kudos to all first responders!
Some of the info I'm seeing has this going in to NE Mexico, putting the Valley on the dirty side of the storm. We'll see...I think the area north of Corpus should be fine from this one, but I've been wrong about the things before...many times!

They are a real pain for just about everyone in the path
Oh, been there, done that. Worked when I probably could have stayed home and volunteered to go out way too many times in several hurricanes that hit NC in the 90s.

When I lived in the northern
Atlanta, Georgia suburbs, Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel was
a member of my church. He is as pleasant in person as he
seems on TV. He is a Vermont native.
By the way, the Weather Channel HQ and the Home Depot's
HQ are in the same office park in the Vinings area of the City
of Atlanta. We are all familar with each entity, but who would
know that they are work neighbors?

Welcome Tropical Storm Alex. Still looks to be Mexico bound.
To the earlier post about LE/Fire/EMS, they without a doubt have the most difficult job during hurricanes. LE not only stays back to ride out the storm, they get to deal with idiotic/beligerent/irate citizens both during evacuation and recovery. They can have that job, I'll just stay locked in my plant, inventoried with hydrocarbons, a few hundred feet from the bay. I

to what municipal responders do during evacuations/recoveries.

although it was Ike that propelled us into gun ownership and CHL holders, so I guess the ill wind did blow some good to us but I also have friends that lost everything in Ike and are still clawing their way back and fighting their insurance companies.

Why do you need gasoline? For molotovs? It's not a zombie attack.
