You never know what you might get from a lame-duck Congress when some members have nothing to lose.

Yep, the operative word being "almost". My favorite lake...Lake Fork, is not controlled by the COE, but instead, the Sabine River Authority. Before I went there last year, I called the SRA to see what their position was on CHL. They said to call the local Sheriff, which I did. The deputy I spoke with said that as long as I had a valid CHL license and that I was carrying according to CHL rules and regs, he saw no problem with it.

Before I go next time, which will be this fall, I will call ahead and confirm again.

You are absolutely right! The NPS Concealed Carry thing came about via a lame duck POTUS.

I am really all for it because we may want to be CG hosts next summer on an USACE reservation somewhere; e..g, Columbia River, Mt. St. Helen, Bull Shoals, etc. and I want our pieces with us. See what I mean about it must happen on a national level?

Um, it was the clean, articulate guy with the deep tan who currently has the keys to the west wing of the White House. ;-)

It does need to be a permanent, national solution. All this junk just needs to be flushed down the drain for once and all.

I recall the NPS thing regarding legal CC was put forth by the lame duck POTUS from Texas. It was signed by the current POTUS from Chicago or somewhere in January of this year after the prerequisite (?) environmental study.

That doesn't matter. What matters is that CC in NPS dominions are now allowed and we must now work toward legal CC on USACE reservations
