I was there today at the Public Works building.
There is a sign.
This is what it said
(big letters 3" high) NOTICE
then in 1" high block letters CONCEALED HANGUN LICENSEES MUST DISPLAY THEIR LICENSES UPON ENTRY WITH A HUNDGUN AND MAY NOT ATTEND ANY MEETING OF A GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY WHILE ARMED
Texas Penal Code 46.035(c)
A line all the way across and then in 1" block letters
NO OTHER FIREARMS OR WEAPONS OF ANY TYPE ARE PERMITTED IN THIS FACILITY
So I asked if it was allowed to bring my legal concealed weapon into the building. The security guard said that when I showed them the CCW card they would summon the police officer at a desk nearby and he would tell me to go put it in my car. I could only have it in the building on this side of the metal detector. I haven't carried yet, so I went through the metal detector after taking a picture of the sign (sorry I cant post it yet) The two security guards were obviously disturbed by my questions and taking a picture of the sign.
I then went to the station with the police officer and asked him about concealed carry in the building. He said it was fine with the CCW card, but that I could not bring it into a City Council or Planning Committee meeting or any other sort of public meeting. He said he was fine with CCW and had no problem at all with it. He mentioned the recent incident with the bar owner being shot at by Houston police because he had a gun. He kinda smiled and said and they missed. He sort of cautioned me that police seeing a gun put you at risk of being considered a BG.
A cool guy and very cordial as have been all my encounters with Houston's police.
Obvious the guards and the police don't talk much.
I don't think I will make this place my first Wally walk.
