I'm pretty sure that four signs with quarter inch letters don't equal one sign with one inch letters.
Very true....

I went there 11/7 and I also noticed the signs were gone.

Now if the AMC theater nearby wasn't inside a mall that is posted we could check that one out too.

The sign clearly does not have 1" high letters, those would be considered block letters, however.
Movie theaters have off duty police officers there for good reason. Sorry long story follows, but point at the end.
My wife and I have been married a long time. So I hope you all will not be shocked to learn that sometimes on a movie night we will see different films. (oh the shock and horror of it)
I will usually buy her pop corn and a drink and escort her to her seat and then go to my movie. She likes kids movies or romantic comedies, so I used to not worry about her safety in the theater.
However about one year ago, I find she is not in the theater I left her in and walking back to the main part, I see she is with four (yes 4) police officers, she seems fine and immediately tells me she is fine, but....
Apparently two older teenage girls were texting in the movie and a younger couple maybe in their twenties were sitting behind them. Natually, this got annoying to a lot of the people in the theater, so the women in the couple decided to wad up a napkin and throw it at the girl who was texting (women seem to have this ability to get men in fights even when they are minding their own business)
Naturally this was a "dis" to the texting girls and the two girls got upset over this. The movie ended and the couple waited till the two girls left, but they yelled that they were waiting for them from outside in the hallway. Remember these are teenager girls, one was fourteen. The couple left by the emergency exits. My wife went to main desk and told them what had happened and sure enough outside in the parking lot the girls confronted the couple.
Natually the guy had to come to the aid of his date and ended up pushing one of the girls to the ground.
The police arrested all four of them. My wife ended up being the star witness to the start of the confrontation.
We now have the back line to the theater in our speed dial, to bring the police quicker, before things get out of control and since we still see separate movies sometimes, she is to call me too.
So be careful at theaters, even when you are seeing a movie about Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, you maybe seconds from a confrontation you didn't expect.
And yeah if the guy was CHL, he probably would have even been in more trouble, cause I bet the police would have felt they would let a jury decide if those letters were one inch tall. Imagine if they saw him brandishing the gun.

This is an interesting development. Brings the question of: Should we write to confirm the wise decision and let them know that they will gain our business?
Even if you did not avoid the theater because the old signs were non-compliant, they don't know that you avoided them. So the letter could be a good way to show them what a wise decision it is for the bottom line. On the other hand - if the sign removal is somehow an error, it could bring it to their attention.

I would think not. What if it is a mistake or what if there has been a local management change to someone that get's it, but corporate might still be anti? Let sleeping dogs lay. Thank them by going and spending your money there.

Right, thus the other part of my post that you didn't quote:

Those are my thoughts , " just let it be " Why poke a bear??
I`m happy to see no signs , but I`m not gonna go up to the mgr and say good job taking the signs down.
So let`s just let it go...... getting off my soap box now......

Yes, I know. It was intended to be thought provoking on the one hand, but a bit rhetorical in that I answered my own question:

I agree. I applaud the action and hope that they notice a slight upturn in revenues as a result. But I will not bring it to their attention.
On a side note: I wonder if the recent election had any bearing on a Corporate decision to remove such signs?

Nowhere in the thread have I noted any consideration that their decision to remove the non-compliant signs might be in response to one or more letters pointing out that such signage is ineffective and might just as well be removed.
