That is why I am trying to get information that will help me select the lesser of two evils. It seems too often that our political parties leave us in this position too often.
Politics is fundamentally about the allocation of resources ... no candidate is going to bring up how they want resources allocated. There will be no information forthcoming if the past is any indicator.

When public servants are hiding something, keep an eye on your wallet and your civil rights.

As someone said, Perry is not perfect, but neither is any other human being. If you value your gun rights and the sanctity of our borders, this is a no brainer.

I couldn't agree more. Perry is a snake. I wouldn't trust him to take care of my pet rock if I were out of town. BUT - between the two of them there just doesn't seem to be any real choice. :grumble

Here's an indirect piece of info: He claims in his ads that he wants to secure the borders, but as mayor of Houston, he ran it as a sanctuary city. Where do most "sanctuary city" mayors sit on gun rights versus gun control?
I agree with you.

I saw a poll this morning that said there was only one point separating them, I find that hard to believe.

You forget most of the people in our state who have their hands out vote democrat, and there are quite a lot. The projections of who is increasing in number and who isn't in our fair state clearly predicts Texas will turn blue in the coming years. I just hope they are all wrong. The idea White could not possibly win is a dangerous one.

That's one of the reason I decided to continue renting and didn't buy property in Texas during the housing downturn. Between the punitive tax rates and the impediment to escaping a growing socialist cancer, it's a bad move for me.

I sent Bill White an email asking his position and this thoughts on future laws that might be needed, his responce was;
Thank you for your email.
Bill White is a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights, and owns a pistol for protection and a hunting rifle.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) rated Bill White "a generally pro-gun
candidate." Texas has an incredible hunting and sporting heritage and as governor, Bill White will continue to fight for that way of life.
Bill White does not believe we need new gun laws on the books, but he does believe laws focused on gangs who steal guns must be enforced.
Thanks for taking the time to write to us.

All the best,
Robyn Swirling

Bill White never responded. Robyn Swirling responded. I understand Bill White is a busy man and has aides respond to emails, calls and letters. I also understand this method to be one of deniability. Remember, he was a member of the Mayors group against handguns, turned Houston into a "sanctuary city", is in the Democratic Party because he believes in their platform, policies, economics and last but not least......(drum roll please)......he's a politician (liar).

As stated he did not respond and the answer is a typical bull answer, but I thought everyone should see the response. Looks like I know which snake I will be voting for. At least with Perry you can hear his rattlers.

Perry's hair and White's MLK ad are irrelevant. Look at their policies and the predictable results. Actions speak louder than words, and both have enough political history to consider their actions, the consequences, and decide who you want to oppose.

Perry has a CHL and shoots coyotes while jogging. White does not have a CHL and has not shot a coyote while jogging.

I am voting for Perry.

Also, remember this. In Texas, while the Gov can veto bills he doesn't like, most of the real power resides in the legislature. So if you really like or don't like certain things, see how your local guy voted on them, and vote accordingly. Its the state senators and reps that make the biggest difference.

That being said, Perry wouldn't veto parking lot, or campus carry. I wouldn't guarantee that with White.

:iagree:

But don't just look at final votes, look at their actions in committee to deny bills the opportunity for a vote, and especially look at the ones who killed important legislation by chubbing. That's a deal breaker for me, no matter what their official voting record says. If they were chubbing last year, I encourage everyone to vote against them this year.
