Guys - note that the OP didn't say anything about telling them the sign was invalid in Texas. He only suggested writing to let them know that the sign wasn't appreciated and would result in loss of business. That seems like a perfectly valid approach to me.

Just sayin' (as the sayin' goes)

tetralaw:

It is never advisable to have ANY communication with a corporation
that wakes them from their ignorance about their gun-related signage.

Who cares what a corporation says internally?

As long as they don't have a valid 30.06 on the premises, we can all
just carry away quietly.

I agree with tetralaw. If he didn't point out the non-complaint sinage, I don't see any harm in expressing his displeasure with the corporate policy. You never know when enough potential customers speak their mind that policy might eventually be changed.

According to slowpoke, his wifes comments may have had an impact on the change from a gun-buster to a pro-2A sign in that bank in Chappell Hill.
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=36531&hilit=my+kind ... 15#p432934" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

slowpoke didn't say they told the bank the gunbuster sign had no legal teeth - but they did let them know the bank would lose their business.

The Toys-R-US in the Woodlands just posted a brand new sign....or at least it was new from the last time i went. I noticed it last week when we went to go get my daughter a gift. It was in english and spanish. Not anywhere near the proper wording to constitute 30.06. There was also a picture of 1911(or at least it looked like one) with a circle and and a line thru it just like you would see on a no smoking sign. See as how I am a visual person I looked at the picture and said to myself "I wonder what they have against 1911s?. Good thing I am carrying a Glock". Then we proceeded into the store. I started to think about it a little more and figured I don't like their anti gun attitude so i think i will go to Target next door to get my daughter's gift. So Target is where we took our money. Long story short the new sign at Toy-R-Us in the woodlands IS NOT compliant.

The sign's validity notwithstanding, TOYS R US is telling YOU (CHL's who shop there) that your business is neither welcome nor necessary. Someone with pertinent information may want to post that information here.

I had the same thought before OG, and I have tried to post "Gun buster signs" on Texas3006.com, however they only want actual 30.06 signs.

Two things.

1st - Toys R Us in Lubbock has no sign as of this day. Babies R Us joined next door had a generic no guns allowed sign in cutesy font and color.

2nd - why do we continue to inform companies that they have the wrong sign posted? :headscratch

Again, it does not appear that the OP did this. He let them know that he didn't like their stated corporate anti-gun policy. He is encouraging us to do the same so that they will connect this policy with a negative impact on their bottom line. This is completely independent of the enforceability of any posted signs.

He did not inform them that their signs may be non-complaint. The distinction is very significant. I completely support his actions in this way. :tiphat:

I went to the store in Austin and saw no signs. I went there to buy a toy gun; however, I could not find any. I drove over to wal-mart where they had just what I wanted. It was a gift for my wife.

Yes, thank you all who understand that I did nothing of the sort with their signs. The ONLY thing I did was express my disapproval of their policy and I would not give them my business. I personally have not walked into a TRU or BRU in over a year. So honestly, if they had the right or wrong sign, I could care less. I was doing this in support of the boycott that started because a member from another community was asked to leave. He lives in an open carry state.

If you just quietly avoid businesses that have signs, how will they know the effect it is having on them?

I doubt very seriously if our avoiding businesses because of their firearms policy has a real effect on their profits.

You may be onto something. :iagree:, there is a difference between mentioning generic policy as opposed to discussing specific signage. The offending businesses can be advised of our objections without having an invalid sign mentioned.
