She said she wanted to know where he got the gun and why he had it there. I think the answer is obvious - he intended to commit suicide in a rather 'spectacular' way. Of course, she ignored the fact that he wasn't old enough to have a CHL anyway, so this incident has no bearing on denying Campus Carry and only makes it more important.
So, after hearing yesterday that the original sponsor (Driver?) was going to file the bill again, today I hear that it's not got a chance. The reporter implied that this is a widespread feeling. Usually WOAI is pretty balanced, but the last couple of days they have been steering way left on this.
According to my Senator, Dan Patrick, it is very much alive, and he very much supports it

I know Gov. Perry will fight for our rights and sign this into law the minute it hits his desk. It will be challenged by the Universities as they are all liberals and most will pass rules so stringent that very few can meet.
I know our Police Chief here at UH will support it but our President is from India and will fight it the best she can.
I know I will carry for I work here. I will not let anyone know I have it ever to keep anti's from complaining. I like my job here and I don't want a Socialist Student complaining to my boss that she/he is scared to come near me.
BTW: both my co-workers are NRA members and My boss supports gun rights.

Good. I thought I was just hearing hysteria, but one never knows with these lying fearmongers who desire only reelection and power.

In my opinion, which may be take with a grain or two of salt, the very next person on any state funded campus that is assaulted in any way should sue the board of reagents of that university/college for failure to provide security and also criminally charge them with conspiracy in the criminal assault. Not the University/College itself, but the individual members of the Board of Reagents.
