Steve - it seems there are so many of you in Houston area that want the class, that I might just come down there. There is another thread about this somewhere on here.
I talked to the Utah BCI this week and they said my license was mailed this week. So... soon, guys, very soon.

I think that previous thread is
here on the second page of the discussion on Utah instructors.

"Tough noogies"?

I should never read this forum while drinking hot coffee. Violates the safe computing rules!
OK, I don't really need a place to stay, but we do need a place to hold this little get together. No range required. There is no proficiency test. We just need a classroom type place.
If you guys can find a place that is agreeable to all, then we are halfway there.

Question...
What would be your "ball-park" figure $$$ for the turn-key Utah permit???

Well.... that depends on when we do this. I am available on Saturday, Nov 18 or Saturday, December 9.
If we do it in November, I won't be able to do fingerprints, cause I don't think I can convince my expert fingerprinter to come with me. If we do it in December, I will be fingerprint certified by then and you guys can be my guinea pigs!
So, in Nov, if I do the class, the application, the photos and notary, but no prints, then $50 each. If in Dec, I can do it all, including prints, for $70.
And for the local folks in DFW, the Utah class will be $70 by itself, or $25 if you add it to a new or renewal Texas CHL class.

Any of you local Houston folks know a way to get fingerprints done in the local area? I know I'm traveling to a Utah-reciprical state for Christmas, so the earlier class is attractive to me.

I'm going to see if we can get the PSC classroom for the class. llwatson, if I get Friendswood PD to give the a letter "certifying" me to roll fingerprints DPS will authorize me to do it. Will Utah accept the DPS certification/approval?

Yes, Utah will accept prints from any person certified by a law enforcement agency, regardless of state.

I think this is great!
I see a lot of us getting that Utah permit soon!
Thanks "llwatson"...

OK, so if all works out with Charles and PSC, looks like we will do this on Nov 18.
FYI, You guys need to understand that a Utah CFP (Concealed Firearms Permit) class is nothing like a Texas CHL class. Utah only requires a "Firearms Familiarity" class. If everyone in this class already has a Texas CHL, we can do this in about 2 hours.
We will firm up the details as soon as I hear back from Mr. Cotton.

I've only received two responses from the Board, so I still don't have an answer. However, even if it is approved, Nov. 18 won't work because there is already an NRA class scheduled on that date.
I hope to know something by tomorrow.
Chas.

I can do that.

Just to be clear, if a person has a Texas CHL, Utah will only add MN, NH, OH, and WA. Is that correct?
Are there any other advantages to a Utah CHL that I'm overlooking?
