And more than likely the fully auto type we can't get legally without jumping through hoops and refinancing our homes for.
Makes me sick!!!!
doubt it. It's rare to select fire weapons in use by street thugs. OCA - maybe...but not morons that burgle homes.
A new trick we've started doing is if you are a problem to our dept, and you have a hud housing, or get hud vouchers...we will get you booted - HUD usually works with us to get thugs off of their support.
Just another step in the right direction.
As for the tragic scenario - something like this, it's only a matter of time before they are found. Something like this is what keeps officers up at night trying to break the case. They'll get em. If they don't want to go alive and do something stupid...well...I shouldn't really finish this sentence.

The photos of the "suspects" were in the paper, apparently that is still legal or PC to publish. If Quanell X is involved you already know the race of the perps.

Well I did the paranoid dad thing and called my son in Houston to warn him... LOL. He already knew about it and he said they already have one of the suspects in custody. Hopefully it won't be long before they get the other one. Houston seems like it has more than it's fair share of violent crime these days.
In this Houston shooting I had to tell my son to be on the look out for scruffy haired guys! That covers about 80% of the males in Houston. This thing where they won't mention race is just ridiculous. It is not racist to say a suspect is black, white Hispanic or what ever. Here in Dallas we had a nut in a Honda Civic a few years ago driving around shooting at folks. Same thing there. they would not say he was Asian. Good lord, it would have been nice to not worry about every Civic you see on the road.

Hurricane Katrina did more than tear up New Orleans; it also sent Houston and surrounding areas a lot of their BG's. They saw Houston as "easy pickin's" and decided to become squatters. NOPD, was too much for the BG's to handle, they went a little berzerk in the aftermath of Katrina. Traveling to Dallas was too far for the BG's to go and they didn't get as much hurricane relieve there as they did in the Houston area. That is just my opinion

and after Katrina our crime rate did not go up, that was an urban myth.
From the photo in the link at the beginning of this thread, this crime happened near the Greenspoint mall, AKA Gunspoint mall. Fifteen years ago an armed female deputy sheriff was abducted from the mall, her body was found later inside her burned out Minivan. No one was ever caught in her terrible murder.
About that time I decided the Greenspoint mall was n't a place I would shop anymore.
For visitors to Houston, Greenspoint mall is near the intersection of I45 and the Sam Houston Tollway near the Bush Intercontinential airport. That area was developed in the early '80's in response to the oil boom and as was noted in an earlier post it is a location where many large now aging apartment complexes were built 30 years ago, all right next to each other.

I wanted to let everyone know the smiley face next to this thread was not placed there by a Member. It appears to be a bug in the software since "topic icons" are not enabled for the Off Topic forum. There's nothing funny about a 3 year old getting killed and I don't want our Members thinking anyone thought differently.

As the OP I appreciate you clarifying! I thought maybe I did that by accident or something and was horrified.
