:iagree: Exactly what I was going to post after first reading the OP's story. Airsoft is very fun, but we wear ski goggles when we play. :thumbs2:

It's all fun until one of Beiruty's kids sustains serious damage to an eye. Then it's not so much fun anymore...

Ah, I remember having wars with those when I was a kid.

Gotta let kids be kids, sometimes.

Was it airsoft or nerf? OPs posts are conflicting. There is nothing soft about an airsoft pellet.

If they were running co2 airsoft guns than that might be worth a warning.

Yeah, let 'em be kids at, and in, your house. Thank you.

How about a lawsuit to help pay for the glass eye and the loss of consortium, etc?

Apologies if I took your post out of context gigag, the OP was referring to airsoft guns.

Funny reference nyj, but there is nothing funny about the obviously serious implications that oldgringo describes.

I'm not sour, I just never cared for a dog that wouldn't come when called or ill-mannered, inconsiderate and rude kids. Since you brought it up, I've found that when I didn't like a particular set of kids, I didn't like the parents either. :headscratch I wonder why that is?

Sorry, you need excuse my lack of experience with those "air soft" toys, some 30 years I did not have the chance to play with those. My apologizes.

Even though some may say the OP over-reacted. BBs and paintballs = missing eyes. This isn't just in a christmas story, you can find accounts of this happening in the news. I would not want my family around that, taking an unnecessary risk.

Soooo.... was it nerf or Airsoft? If it was Airsoft I'd be jumping all over them, I have multiple scars from bare skin getting nailed with those babies at about 400fps. If it was nerf... no problem.

Clearly an ambush. Work on those surveillance skills!

I'm w/ Old Gringo.
Never shot them & probably would consider them an eye hazard. I have a GOOD friend on this board that lost an eye to a BB gun.

As far as I can tell from reading, the type of toys has yet to be positively ID'ed, whether it is closer to a nerf gun or an airsoft gun. If it was in fact an airsoft or BB gun, then I can see the OPs point - if it was closer to nerf (which the initial telling of the story seemed to relay), then I think the danger was exaggerated, and the OP over reacted.

If the OP couldn't tell the difference, as was also indicated at some point in the thread, then I think "cooler heads may have prevailed" and more research was necessary. Calling the kids rude, as others have done, doesn't seem to fit. One of the kids apologized and was polite and respectful...seems like alot for a teenager that just got berated to do - I was impressed with that part of the story.

I'm still not sure how the parents got brought into the mix...

Airsoft. It looked like a rifle with that bright orange Muzzle flash hider.
