They were looking at semi auto Sig, Glock, S&W, etc.

The clerk suggested he look at a Glock 19. The young guy said, "Nah. I'm not a fan of 'em. No safety and all..."
Then on his very next breath, "Let me see that silver colored revolver."

I bit my tongue...
To be fair to the guy, a heavy DA trigger pull and/or an exposed hammer is its own sort of safety in terms of getting hung up on a holster.

Yeah, but that wasn't what he was thinking. I get that a revolver requires 10 lbs of trigger press, etc, but still. "No safety".

Nice gun! Love those. I'm in the market for a 299 Elite Stainless in any caliber. They're hard to find!

My wife was like this.

She grew up with revolvers as the only handguns in her house (her Dad was a hunter and primarily had rifles). She didn't really trust semi's, but she REALLY didn't like me carrying a Glock because "it doesn't have a safety". I asked her to show me the safety on her revolver, and she quickly got the point. My reward for educating her is that she now wants a Glock 17, but it needs to be a Gen 4 because the Gen 3 is too bulky for her hand, so I will probably need to buy a new one at $550+ with tax, etc.

Was it a nickel plated sissy pistol?

They should've been referred to the Air Soft section!
I was torn on whether the clerk should have tried to educate him or do what texanron said. At some point somebody will have to do one or the other.

Speaking of safeties...I ended up buying a Ruger SR9c due to the slide safety. There are a couple of things I could have done without such as the HUGE loaded chamber indicator (required in certain states by the ignorant antis, so I understand why Ruger put it there), and the magazine disconnect (probably there for the same reason)...all in all, though, I feel confident in the operation of the pistol and the safety is pretty easy to sweep off with your thumb(s). My two cents only, of course. YMMV.

I've heard nothing but good things about that gun. Congrats!

FWIW, I wish my Glocks had a slightly better chamber indicator. You can tell, but it's not as big as I'd like.

Today at the range I heard “I don’t like Glocks because they don’t have a safety”. I immediately thought of this forum. Then his buddy responded “yes they do, its called the trigger”. I just had to smile to myself.

Unless you carry a Ruger SP101 spurless .... and it's a nice silver color. ;-)

Mine too... but I frequently like to *see* it too.
