Very true, and that's what CBS is saying, as far as spec ops/cia tracking. My intended context was just that in general somehow we got him.Skiprr wrote:I do.bigmoney wrote:CBS says head shot, not drone, who's right? Ah who cares...![]()

That we have his body--if correct--means there were boots on the ground, a planned operation with our troops present to retrieve the body. Personally, I'd rather learn one of our SpecOps snipers did the deed.

If they were smart, and unfortunately they are, I'm sure they have some type of plan in place that is going to be put into action in the event of his death or capture...bigmoney wrote:Now I wonder what's going to happen next. Retaliation?

They've speculated for a while about what would happen, I guess time will tell now. But it's still a great day, and I'll be singing tomorrow all the way to the bullet store, just in caseCrimsonSoul wrote:If they were smart, and unfortunately they are, I'm sure they have some type of plan in place that is going to be put into action in the event of his death or capture...bigmoney wrote:Now I wonder what's going to happen next. Threat level will definitely be raised, but I don’t know how much effect—read, impetus—that this will have. Al Qaeda is geographically wider than it was a decade ago, but by its very nature it is even more splintered and less capable of mounting any significant, rapid retaliation. IMHO, of course.bigmoney wrote:Now I wonder what's going to happen next. Retaliation?
Ya betcha. Except that the body is very important to some in the Arab world. Simply announing bin Laden is dead and saying that we are certain about it won't cut the mustard. DNA evidence alone may not cut it. It may very well turn out to be that the long delay in nailing him was because the powers that be felt they must have a semi-intact body in hand...flintknapper wrote:It matters not to me....but its hard for me to imagine that he wasn't first shot, then a drone fired a missile as insurance. Time will tell. I'm just happy he's gone!
That's what the news was saying, the Arab world would want to see his face, and his body with a US Soldier standing by itSkiprr wrote:Ya betcha.
