It's really good to see a discussion of Mosin Nagants on this forum site. Nice pictures, by the way. I got in trouble over on the 7.62x54R website forum because I referred to a Izhevsk arsenal gun as an "Izzy." Seriously, that was it. Anyway, Mosins are a great gun with a fascinating history, including use by our adversaries in Viet Nam.

Ya I'm on that site a lot. I bought two of mine from a forum member there. They are pretty strict but they do know their stuff.

Absolutely right, sookandy. If you want to know anything about mosing nagants, the 7.62x54R.net site is the place to go. It's definitely the best website out there for in-depth, accurate information on the mosin nagant.

And I was chastised for asking about a good source for ammo . . . a moderator informed me that
they didn't want shooting topics over there.

The guy that started the site, Ted, pays for it all and keeps it strictly about collecting since there are a lot of forums about shooting in general. Something about costs and his preference to keep it easy to find stuff about collecting. I asked about a sniper I was looking at when I first started and it got deleted because it was a fake. Heck I didn't know at the time. That's why I was asking. Its nothing personal.

Well I done did it again. Picked up a couple MO marked rifles, one being an ex-sniper. An ex-dragoon and my first M38 carbine.

Haven't been to the range since you and I shot your M44. Too dang hot. Congrats on the M38. I think it needs a "test drive" - no?

I'm hoping to pick one up this weekend, maybe, at the Dallas gun show, if the price is right.

G26, I haven't either. Ya I think we need to give her a go. I'm working on another 38 but not sure if it will work out. I got this one from the gun show in Conroe. They actually had 3 there and I hadn't even seen one before that. The others I got off a forum member wolfsjager I think was his id. Good guy to deal with. I need some more bruises.

Interesting. I've just started looking around for a 91/30 or perhaps a dragoon. I'm not interested in the carbine, thought. There's a gun show down in Pasadena next weekend, so I think I'm going to head down and see about getting one. I'm guessing you can get one in sensible condition for under $150.
