Keeping your chl status secret is very important. Once the word is out you can't change it. Thats good advise Tam.I'm writing my note right now.

You can add, if you want, "The weapon is in a holster on my right hip/left ankle/left shoulder/right pocket" or wherever you carry it) to answer that question before it gets asked. BUT.....if you include this part, you darn well better have the weapon exactly where the note says it is. If the officer decides to disarm you and the gun isn't where you say it is in your note, he or she might be a bit peeved..

I was a passenger in a car that got pulled over. The driver has a CHL as did the passenger in the rear. Driver was unarmed (in center console), but myself and the other passenger were carrying. Driver handed over TDL and CHL. DPS officer took it, ran the check, came back and gave the driver a warning.

DPS never spoke to us passengers or asked ID, so, we weren't obliged to identify ourselves.
