All that being said...I don't see a real need for a bolt gun in .357 but if anyone made a semi auto .357 carbine I'd be all over it...just for the fun factor if nothing else.

I don't think this will be a terrible rifle by any means...but there are better guns that can do the same things.

I owned a Ruger .44Mag carbine when I was a young lad. What a fun plinker. I wish they would bring it back with some of the more popular handgun calibers such as .357Mag. It was more than accurate enough to get the job done when deer hunting in the thick brush of East Texas plus it could kill a milk jug at 100 yards with iron sites...

Give me a semi or pump in .357 and I'm there.

...I never could figure why only Marlin came out with a .357 levergun or pump back when the revolver was king...some like Rossi and Puma and Henry have since...but they'd have mopped up back in the 70s...I'm still lusting for a Henry in .44 and one in .357...I just ain't been that good lately and someone snitched to Santa....

I just want a .357 lever gun in stainless that does not cost an arm and a leg. I have not been able to find one under $600 or so and I just don't need one that bad if they are more. The blued models just don't do it for me at all...

Might be able to negotiate the price and the shipping down a bit. Most rifles ship for 20.00 in other ads.

That is still over $600 and is a blemish or defect sale price. I appreciate the link, but that is still a little rich for what you are getting. The finish on the reciever looked pretty rough and the wood was less that desirable. The overall fit and finish of the Rossi rifles leave a bit to be desired in my opinion.

Personally, I don't see much of a market in the bolt action hand gun calibers (i.e. 44 mag, .357 mag, etc...), but that's just my opinion. It would seem that a semi auto carbine or the lever action would have made more sense. I guess time will tell if it is a success or not.

With that being said, I just picked up a Ruger 96/44. It's the .44 magnum lever action that Ruger made, but has since discontinued. It also uses the rotary magazines. So far I love everything about this gun and look forward to leaving my 7mm Mag in the safe this year for deer season. With good ammo, it shoots right at 2 moa. Target loads are more ~3 to 4 moa.

It would seem that a .357 in the Ruger 96 platform would be much more successful, but what do I know?!

That is freaking awesome! I have never seen or heard of one before. I'm not going to jump on it or anything, but really cool.

Seen the design before...it is cool, but I like my .45 1911s just fine.

I should have. I will probably go to the July 3rd FREE range day they have planned. In case you didn't see, usually GT distributors brings a plethora of guns including select fire. Free bbq, no range fees, pay/bring your own ammo.

.357 is my favorite handgun cartridge, but I personally see no use for a .357 bolt action rifle . . . at least a lever gun can give you more shots.

I have a Ruger police sniper riffle in .223. It is a tack driver. Less than 1 minute of an angle groups at 100 yards. Heavy barrel,bi-pod, great gun.

What exactly is a Ruger police sniper rifle?

While I really enjoy all of the Ruger's that I own, Ruger isn't known for producing very accurate rifles. 1 moa is pretty much the standard for any bolt action rifles these days. My Rock River ar-15 is guaranteed to shoot 1 moa or better.
