What about the lcr? It's a black coat with ss wheel, will it rust in the car?
I saw the s&w on jgsales.com but they charge for shipping which makes it a $300 gun shipped. At this price I can get a new smi-auto s&w ss or for extra $60 a new 642 from buds or the lcr from cdnn :???:

Stolen guns kill cops
I guess by your logic we should not own guns. Since we own guns we are apt to have them stolen by criminals and then they will be used to kill cops. That is nonsense, as long as I keep my guns locked up I have no responsibility for what criminals do. I never stated I left my guns unsecured. People are always so worried about their car gun getting stolen due to the cost of replacing it. I have never heard anyone state they were worried about cops getting shot with it.

For a pistol, I recommend a S&W Sigma.

If it's stolen, no criminal will try to use it in a crime due to the gawdawful trigger. :thumbs2:

...no, they don't...stolen guns don't kill anyone...evil men/women may kill cops...let's not lose focus...

...guns are routinely stolen from police units, policemen's personal cars, and policemen's homes...they may be used to kill regular citizens...but those guns don't kill anyone, either...

It is hard to beat the reliability of a pump shotgun ;-)

I have less than $200 in this gun so far, but still have a few things that I plan on doing with it. I plan on having the threading of the barrel & receiver machined to be interrupted so allow a much quicker connection, adding some high visibility sighting, & I am working on a way to leave the magazine tube loaded while it is disassembled.

Kel-Tec Sub 2000. 9mm, takes Glock mags, accurate to 100+ yards, and new can be found under $350. Did I mention it folds in half and can be carried in a laptop bag?

(cough) 30.06 friendly (cough)

Agree 100%. I would like one of these because it uses the same mags as my EDC.

Also, IMHO, anyone who would leave a gun unsecured in a car is not thinking the process through. I have said it before, but getting your gun stolen out of your car is a bad day, interrupting the guy stealing the gun out of your car could be your last day.

In a civilian self defense situation, why would a long gun be more useful than a potent handgun? Wouldn't most situations put you behind the steering wheel inside the vehicle...parking lot, double jam-in at a remote stop sign/intersection, road rage crazy following you to a stopping point, etc? The odds of actually needing a firearm in a vehicle are probably a whole lot greater that you'll need it in just a few short seconds while still inside the vehicle.

...speed of deployment is very important in a "car gun"...a long gun as a second may get you home better if things get long and drawn out...my first choice will always be a .45 semiauto...shotgun or rifle as second choice...if you can't reach it in under two seconds...you might as well not have it...
