Good job Skiprr, I too am there. I need 3 weeks to be 57. I have not yet had a bang that needed to be click. I am very thankful. I also try to prove it wrong. I never let my mind wander when handling one.

I have never understood how a gun can "go off" while being cleaned, at least the way I clean mine. Are these idiots just leaving it loaded and wiping off the outside of it, hitting the trigger?

"It's bizarre. The bullet traveled through at least two walls," said Harris County sheriff's spokesman Lt. John Martin.
That's almost like saying "Gee, whoda thunk a bullet could go through something!"

I guess he's never seen the Box o' Truth #1
http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot1.htm,
wherein it is demonstrated that even the pokey .45 ACP goes
through twelve sheets of 1/2" drywall (although 8 sheets of 3/4"
Ponderosa Pine stopped a Hydra-shok).

Of course, I have nothing to back this up, but I've always suspected 'cleaning my gun' was an attempt to disguise horseplay or other irresponsible behavior.

For the ones that actually WERE cleaning their guns, they're just too ignorant to know how to clear the firearm or just too stupid to do so.

Ya know, :iagree: A firearm never goes off while cleaning...attempted disassembly, at best. But ignorance and negligence are never an excuse. IMHO
