My Stainless guns like a silicone rag wipe down on their exterior surfaces (not oil). They like oil on the moving parts!
And to keep this thread on topic, I will say that I would NEVER use anything like that magnet thingy.........My guns do not like scratches!

I'll toss out a thought that might be an issue with some applied finishes. I used to drive a LeSabre and for convenience' sake, kept a strong pickup magnet stuck to the underside of the trunk lid.
The magnetic field caused the exterior paint to crack and peel in the shape of the magnet.
Might be something to consider in addition to scratches. Or maybe not?

Trigger guard: I'm now curious now about the potential to grab the trigger while removing the gun from the magnet, but I'm very conscious of where my fingers are when handling. I'll have to test it out in a couple of positions. I'd be most concerned using with my XD, we'll see.
Scratches: It is supposed to be covered by plastic, so I don't expect any scratches from the thing. I don't care about scratches anyway. I wouldn't own a gun that I am afraid to use because I may scratch it. I also don't buy anything that I don't plan on keeping forever. I do my best to keep them clean and scratch free, but I guess I view them more as tools then as pieces of art to admire.
I'll stick them on my tool box, work bench, or 4wheeler if they don't work out as I want or expect. There's a ton of uses for something like this.

I think I might snag a few of these....seems like a pretty good idea, I'll figure out what to do with em later.
