I was under the impression grand jury proceedings are secret in Texas, and neither you nor your attorney have any right to be present, much less present evidence or testimony.

If I WAS to buy a similar legal plan, I would choose one that provided coverage for both criminal and civil cases.
IMHO, from what I've read thus far, I'd go with [pre-paid legal]...
I am not affiliated with [pre-paid legal] in ANY way, I am not a current policy holder and never have been. FWIW, YMMV, IANAL, EIEIO.

I am not disputing that. I am simply asserting that you want a Lawyer even before it goes to a Grand Jury. No one in the Justice System ever does anything simply because it is the right thing to do in your case. They do it because it is the politically astute thing to do for Society in general.

I've probably not read every one of Cotton's posts, but I've never seen him say to not discuss this topic. I have seen him say to be careful and make sure you know what you are really getting before you spend your $$. If I had to guess I'd say he his not a fan of these things, but I've never seen him say don't do it or don't talk about it.

I liken pre-paid legal and these types of legal protection plans like extended vehicle warranties. You have to understand what you are really getting and read all the fine print.
A good example is the extended warranty I bought on one of our vehicles. While it is a good policy and was very reasonable cost-wise, it only covers major internal components and some miscellaneous things like electric seat motors, actuators, etc. A good example is we had a problem with the transmission, but the part that went out was an electronic control module and not an internally lubricated part which were the only things that the warranty covered. Luckily it was not a major expense to replace that component.
Bottom line, I could have spent more and gotten better coverage, but this suits me for what I need. On a pre-paid legal plan, you can go cheap and not get very good support, or spend a lot more and get 'bumper to bumper' coverage on any type of event. Do your research, compare plans, talk to them and make a decision. If you think it meets your needs, then it may be a good deal. However, as always, if the deal sounds to good to be true (for that price) it probably is.

My feeling is that I want both of the programs I carry, and I want to look back at them, one day, and wish I could have all the money back I wasted on them...kind of like I do with cigaretttes. Boy, I could have bought a lot of guns with the money I burned up.

One point has not been mentioned yet in this thread, but is covered extensively in other threads - no matter how justified the shooting, you do not want to talk with any LEO without legal counsel present. You will want legal representation well before any grand jury hearing and regardless of whether you are the defendant in a civil law suit.
