Well I went ahead and ordered the holster kit last week. I'll post a reply when I get it assembled and use it a few times.

Actually, the 'Super Deluxe' kits come with the Kydex pre-molded for your gun.

The 'Standard' and 'Deluxe' kits require you to form the Kydex.

If I hadn't gone with a Silent Thunder from Garrett Industries, I was going to try one of these. Still may do so one day.

Let us know how it turns out.

I can make you a TRS-80 holster, but you'll need someone else to make the belt needed to hold it up. It needs to be at least 4 layers thick and 6 inches wide.

I've been thinking of getting one of those kits myself and giving kydex a try.

UPDATE:
I assembled the holster a couple of weeks ago and have been wearing it whenever I carry since then. I'm very happy with it as a discount alternative to a crossbreed or MTAC holster. All of the materials necessary were included, the kydex was premolded and fit the gun just right, and it all went together very well. I do own a bandsaw and drill press which I used to cut the kydex and drill the holes I needed, and that definately made it much easier to put together. The tutorial videos gave all the instructions I needed.

As far as wearing it, it's the only holster I've used so far so I cant compare it to anyone, but it's comfortable. It doesn't move around for me and conceals my XD9 sc completely.

For 37 dollars shipped, I am extremely happy with this holster and I'd buy another one in the future without hesitation.

Leather tanning processes vary from tannery to tannery and will affect the overal quality of the material,,,I would see if there is feedback commentary from previous customers
