I appreciate all the good info. I think I will research the AK and take a close look at the Arsenal. Looks like the AK may fit the bill for me. Thanks again.

Mine is a 7.62x39 Norinco AKM that I have enhanced and modernized.
It's accurate, reliable and it cycles sub sonic ammunition.

H2O man, that aK is nice, very nice. I always liked the Chinese AK's. I remember the days when you could get a Norinco Thumbhole, think they were called MK 90's for under $200.00, and ammo was $1.50 a box. Those were the good ole days.

Yep, I paid $200 for mine in about 1992 I think. I replaced enough parts to be able to change it over to AK style stock. Much better. The fit and finish is nothing to brag about but the reliability and accuracy have been impressive.

I like my AK enough to finally bite the NFA bullet and SBR mine. Best truck gun ever with a reflex sight and ACE stock, stupid reliable, way more compact than my AR. :biggrinjester:

I've been keeping an eye out for a draco-c. With an underfolder stock, that thing would be the most compact rifle...more of a backpack gun! Don't even need the whole trunk.

Sweet AK. :tiphat:

what are you planning on SBRing that little guy? I had all my paper work filled out a while back for my draco but then it got put on the back burner. I'm hoping to get my stuff sent in by year's end.

Hadn't price them in stock configuration in a while. Had no idea they had jumped up so high.
I got mine for $320 last April...

I just got my packet from the BATF, so I still have to jump through all the hoops and get my LEO signoff. With the holidays about, I'd imagine it will be after the new year before I send it in. (Plus the accountant... I mean wife... needs to allocate the tax stamp funds). Sounds like we need to start an NFA thread! :clapping:

I have an AK or two laying around. Nothing special or high end. I too like the compactness and have one in a baseball bat bag. I keep a ten round magazine in it and carry two 30 round magazines in the shoe compartment of the bag.

They shoot as well as I can. I'm not cloverleafing them at 100 yards but if a BG was standing at the receiving end he'd be hurting in a bad way.

Now I'm thinking of picking up an AR, if for no other reason just to have one.

Either one will serve you well
