Texas Penal Code
§37.11. Impersonating public servant.
Don't forget this section of the code...

§37.12. False identification as peace officer; misrepresentation of property.

(a) A person commits an offense if:

(1) the person makes, provides to another person, or possesses a card, document, badge, insignia, shoulder emblem, or other item bearing an insignia of a law enforcement agency that identifies a person as a peace officer or a reserve law enforcement officer; and

(2) the person who makes, provides, or possesses the item bearing the insignia knows that the person so identified by the item is not commissioned as a peace officer or reserve law enforcement officer as indicated on the item.

Again, you would probably not be convicted, but you may take the ride...

This part is saying if you are not police officer/LEO, you cannot wear police cloth or badge etc.

The thing is, CHL badge is not a police badge. Far from it.

If you really want to see what happens, buy the badge (my gut feel is you already own one) pin it on (gut feel is that you already pose with it in the mirror), strap on your carry piece, and run a speed trap (HPD would really love this. Mebbe they would get a morale boost). When you present your CHL and DL, tell him you want to show him your badge too.

Sounds like a plan. Be sure and post what happens. Then maybe this thread will end.
