The El Paso Police Department is begging you to go get a temporary restraining order against them. I say you oblige them.

Like in any profession you have about 15% that the profession would be better off without
"Rogue" not "rouge". Just thought I would let you know. I noticed the same misspelling on another thread of yours. "Rouge" (pronounced "roooj") is what women put on their cheeks to impart a red tint.

hmmmm.... may i ask what kind of gun you have. maybe the LEO liked it and wanted to "borrow" it for a couple of weeks. :fire

'cause from what you're telling us, i don't see any other reason why they would take it.

my fender bender 4 years ago in arlington, (right in front of GM plant) i gave the officer both of my licenses, he asked where it was. i told him it's on my hip. DONE. :thumbs2:

Hope it wasn't one of those pretty and expensive 1911s. My fathers friend recovered a firearm from a theft several years back and it took him months to get it back even after he was notified that it was located! I wouldn't want to hand over any firearm let alone a CZ, STI, Wilson Combat etc.

Sounds like a very simple case of theft by cop, to me, at least on the face of it. Maybe a call to the Texas Rangers would stir things up/grease the wheels? Or at least a lawyer, the mayor, the chief, etc...well you get the idea. I hope this works out in your favor, as it sounds like you did nothing wrong. :tiphat:

To OP:
I have some of the same questions as gigag04; What dept? When? Patrol officer or supervisor? Injuries involved?
Or maybe this is a "post & run".........

One other question, did you buy the firearm new? If you bought it used, could it possibly be that they ran the serial number and it shows up as questionable on belonging to someone that reported it stolen or maybe that person has an record?

Maybe he was saying Baton Rouge justice is almost as corrupt as New Orleans.

IANAL, but this is an illegal search in any case if I'm not mistaken?

Not if he offered it to the police officer...

Also, I'm beginning to think this is a "one post wonder" (actually two posts because he clarified that he didn't do anything illegal).
