I would expect them to amend the reciprocity to state they will not recognize licenses issued to persons under 21 years of age or resident aliens. However, I would expect they'll continue to recognize all other Texas licenses.

...Charles may be able to verify...I don't think that page said that this morning...if so, I missed it...the update with today's date was done this afternoon...I'm sure he'll be along after supper...man's gotta get his vittles...

Thanks for responding to this call-to-action; it made a tremendous difference. I have good information that the above-referenced numbers were buried in phone calls, primarily from Texas. NM has clearly backed down and I think the ultimate result will be that Texas reciprocity will remain in place. It may be that an age limit (21 yrs) and U.S. Citizen requirement will be added, but reciprocity likely will not be cancelled.

The six point criteria arbitrarily chosen by New Mexico DPS as audit points are still on the NM website and apparently will remain the measuring stick. These audit points aren't found in the NM statute; they are the creation of the NM DPS. If they remain in place, they could be a problem in the future. I suspect they they will be abandoned quietly after the face-saving phase is over.

At this point, we need not make anymore calls or send more emails. Thanks again for all of your efforts folks.

So what happens to the 20 year old veterans and the folks with green cards? Do we let them go hang, just 'cos NM has said it'll play ball with the rest of us, as long as we turn our backs on our neighbors?

IMHO, I think so, simply because that isn't our state. It seems that people from elsewhere were able to have an effect on the State of New Mexico's concealed carry policy, IN A GOOD WAY. I'd guess that is in no small part thanks to many members of this forum (I take no credit, I caught up with this one too late). I believe that this one has to count in the "win column". Yes, not a win for everyone unfortunately, but a win nonetheless. And those other items may get walked back at some point...its not a done deal, more likely a temporary setback.
