Feds are involved. I just watched (on Fox) a FBI person make entry thru the subject's apartment window. He was wearing a vest with FBI in big letters across the back.

Was talking about this with my fiancee this morning, wondering if a CHL would have been able to prevent it. Then I thought that the theatre probably has the "gun buster" signs as many do even here in Texas, and I think those have force of law in Colorado. Therefore, a CHL would have been prevented from carrying.

Not only that, upon further thinking, I'm not sure I would want to be at the scene of a mass shooting with a gun in my hand when the police burst through the door.

I really think a CHL would have been able to do little to nothing. Too much chaos, its really going to depend on
1. Is your family with you? If so then getting them out safe is first priority.
2. How close are you to the gunman when the shooting starts? Is the exit closer? Are there people between you and him? Additionally the dude is wearing some kind of armor. Is your caliber sufficient to penetrate it?

CHL is not a batman license, even if you are watching batman.

Was wondering when someone would make that word connection.

He went on for 20 mins shooting and no one was sure if it was the movie promotion. They sat and thought it was part of the show
he offered no resistance when he was arrested, now he will be declared unfit to stand trial and do easy time in a mental institution and all at the tax payers’ expense (millions of dollars)

True. This, to me, means if I'm in Theater 7 and someone starts shooting people in Theater 8, I'm not going to go running into Theater 8 and engage the guy. But if I'm in Theater 8 and someone opens fire at people randomly in Theater 8, I will probably return that fire if I get a chance and a clear shot.

I'd be unable to look myself in the mirror if I fled while people were getting killed from the place I fled from when I may have been able to prevent at least a few deaths.

EDIT: This guy was apparently wearing a bullet proof vest and a kevlar helmet. Returning fire would likely not have accomplished much unless you got a very lucky shot.

This is really sad. Someone who has planned and is determined to kill a lot of people probably will.

My son went to a Houston midnight showing last night. His mom as usual said "be careful".

So will any report say he was illegally carrying a gun and that honest law abiding customers of the theater were prevented from having a gun in the theater? No.

Did the threats against critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and the publicity that it caused, create the focus on this movie opening, or was this the guy who made the threats?

Bloomberg couldn't wait to jump in and use this for his anti-gun platform
NEW YORK — New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is calling on President Barack Obama and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney to respond to the mass shooting in Aurora, Colo., by detailing their plans to improve gun control.

Just heard ABC say that he was a Tea Party member. Here it comes.

Now get ready for anti vest, anti mask, anti everything. I hope his rifle was full auto only because it's already illegal.

My sixteen year old just mentioned he wouldn't be surprised to find out this was staged/orchestrated by the anti libs to help promote their gun control agenda. Interesting thought considering what we've learned about "fast and furious" and what the UN is up to. Interesting timing to say the least. Especially considering the supposed links to the Tea Party.

Not trying to jump to conclusions or promote a vast conspiracy theory based speculation. Just some food for thought. It will be interesting to hear what Obama has to say at 10 this morning.

I don't think anything MaoBama says at 10am, or any other time, interesting. :banghead:
