My wife and I had planned to go to Austin, but if we're unable to go for whatever reason, you can count on us to come to your event. Also, I own a website design and hosting business. I can't get you a full service site up and running by next weekend, simply because I already have a lot of other work to finish right now. I would like to setup a meeting on Thursday to discuss logistics and planning. Maybe at a restaurant in the mid cities or Arlington? I'm open to suggestions.

WFAA, Fox and NBC all expressed interest in covering the event so it is Paramount that we show them that we are responsible firearm owners.

Any volunteers to help plan, message me and we can set up a place to meet.

I look forward to meeting the people I've read about for so long.

I think its a great idea to do this.

With that said - I would be a little hesitant to encourage private purchases with media coverage. A perfect example of *legally purchasing guns*, but a broadcasted version of the "gun show/private party" loophole that is currently the topic of debate.

Im not saying dont do it (I sure as heck would...), but be careful what is shown, and to whom. It could turn into "Private individuals show up at a gun buy back to help improve the community, only to offer a few dollars more to keep the guns on the street", or worst case "man purchases gun using "gun show loophole" at a gun buy-back event, commits crime" type of story.

Would there be a need for a way to check for stolen? How?
Aside from the risk of buying something with hidden damage, I'd be worried about buying something that's stolen. I suppose if you require a BoS, that anyone with a stolen gun would be more likely to choose the no-questions-asked Church offer, but, nobody ever said thieves were all smart.

Does seem like a good way to make a few bucks and keep a few guns from the crusher.

As for the GunShow Loophole argument... If all the BUYERS are CHL, NICS is pre-verified.
The media should be saying "Licensed Gun Owners Save Sellers from a Raw Deal".

I wonder if an officer might be able to call in numbers for a quick check, on the spot?

I planned on printing a few bills of sale to take there. Not sure about DPD helping. I figured the bill of sale would discourage stolen guns though. I like the idea of CHL only purchasing.
