Campus carry has never passed the Texas House. In fact, it's never even received a floor vote in the Texas House.

But there were 84 co-authors of the bill (HB 750). Had it gone to vote it would have passed.

I would like to think (hope) that it would be political suicide to not let it come up for vote this time, in the current climate.

Unfortunately, the level of support doesn't matter if it never gets a vote.

I'd like to think that too, but I'd be wrong.

That's incorrect. It was tacked on to another bill as an amendment and passed the Senate. In the House it failed because Strauss didn't let it be put on the Calendar until it was too late for it to pass the House and pass the Senate. Strauss killed every campus carry bill in the Calendars Committee. He'll do it again this year. Campus carry will never pass so long as he is Speaker.

It doesn't seem that House committee assignments have done this bill any favors. I guess we'll have to wait and see what kind of magic Alice and Tara can work behind the scenes.
