I used leather, but only because the dept I worked for required it. Nylon is the way to go if you ask me. I'd go with a good name brand. In the academy a bunch of guys bought this cheap nylong set that a supply store offered. I think it was a $100 for the belt, keepers, mag pouch, holster, flashlight ring, and underbelt. Those things didn't make it through three months just sitting at a desk doing school work all day.

I think my stuff was all Safarland by the way.
