Just saw a better version of the photo on Fox nad the ports can be seen clearly on the left side of the barrel. Flat plane and poor resolution gives the illusion of being on the other side. I can't say much for his grip on the for-end unless he's using the tips of his fingers to space his lead.

I completely missed the smoke coming out the side the first time. Sorry about that.

Very nice. I can't recall if skeet is one of those you can eat at 140° or if it has to reach 160°. Don't want to get worms ya know?

How about a blank shell loaded with black powder to produce enough smoke for a good photo as a viable theory?

It would also explain the apparent lack of recoil.

Now that makes pretty good sense given how the photo looks.

Probably taken before they showed him how to hold it. Someone should try to get the meta date or what ever it's called on the original image to see when it was taken. His body position is really poor so I'm sure he missed. But being King they may have the "skeet" hold still for him!

I took another look at this photo and realized there's no way he's shooting skeet, unless the traps at Camp David throw pigeons at eye level. Anyone who's shot skeet knows even the low house is angle up. His body position is completely at odds with a swinging shot. He 's leaning back. And another thing I noted; why is their only an extended choke tube on the top barrel? BOGUS in my book.
Edit: Another thing I forgot to mention is the dark glasses on what is clearly not a bright sunny day. Even orange pigeons are difficult little buggers to track and dark tint glasses are the last thing I'd be wearing.

The Dallas Morning News headline over the photo also said he was shooting a "rifle". The copy editor should be sent back to New York, a real Texan wouldn't make that sophmoronic mistake.
