I think Triple M range in Mckinney is open. Well, it was supposed to open in the summer of 2012.

Napier wrote:Slum a little and go down south to Plano. Google Bullet Trap on Avenue K between Park and Parker. But come well armed, it's a bad part of town. If you see an old man shooting there who looks like a homeless person there, that will be me. And be prepared for the staff to be surly, rude and to talk down to you. We loyal regular patrons wouldn't have it any other way.
It's not really that bad of a part of town and the staff aren't as crude as they used to be. Wait times can be VERY long (especially on the weekend) and they have no tolerance for rapid fire! If you use a GPS to find it you might have to look a little further north than what the GPS will tell you. I go there frequently. :thumbs2:

There's not a lot of choices around Plano/Allen so this place stays real busy.

If you are retired like I am (my wife makes me say that rather than "unemployed") it's "24 lanes - no waiting!" at 9AM weekdays. As to them being nicer, I have outlasted 30 years of pimply-face jerk kids there. The older guys always were nice, having read their Heinlein.

We made it out to Bullet Trap on Monday morning -- figured we'd skip the weekend and hopefully miss any crowds, since my husband had President's Day off. Thanks for the suggestions! It was nice, and we didn't have any trouble with the staff. Actually, everyone we talked to was pretty friendly. Also wandered by their sale case and saw that they had an M&P Shield on display, so I finally got to put my hands on one. When I first got serious about buying a gun that was the model I settled on, but I planned to buy around Christmas and, well, they got even harder to find. So I have a 9c instead... but maybe down the road...

Anyhow, I think we'll plan to go back next time we're in town.

Just want to throw out some props for Bullet Trap. I don't have the experience with them that Napier has, since I am a new shooter. But they have been very helpful to me since I began shooting in the fall. I go about once a week. For the most part, the staff is great and encouraging. The manager did my CHL class and my range qual. Based on what he said during the class, I was concerned about any mishaps or issues during the range qual. As it turned out, my firearm which 'never' jams, had continual problems during the range qual...turned out to be due to the ammo they happened to have in that day because they were out of Federal. Anyway, he was very nice and helpful with the jam problems during the range qual...I had expected more of a gruff attitude!

East Plano has aged and I'm sure has a higher crime rate than West Plano, but I never feel unsafe (even before I started carrying).

They will probably see their business increase for a while...

Glad you had a good experience there. That was me in the ghillie suit and the gas mask.
