Im just going to wait and see if they send me a letter requesting additional information. For those who think they will deny my app for that mistake, I don't think they will. At the time I filled it out and signed it I filled it out truthful and to the best of my knowledge. I did not lie and it was a honest mistake.

On my last renewal for my Government Security Clearence I made a simular mistake....The investigator called me up to clearify and that was it. No big deal.

Yeah no FBI is going to kick down my door, some people here tend to over think everything.

Made a mistake on my renewal, sent the application and support papers on the 12th of January for my birthday of March 1st. On Feb 19th I received a letter from Austin that I had not had not provided both pages required and my renewal would be held up til they received the requested pages. I ran out and had another set notarized the same day and mailed them back. I'm still waiting. The page you can access to find out how your application is going still says I'm under background check. I haven't moved nor have I had any legal problems. This is my second renewal so how far back do they need to go? Feels a little strange without my buddy on my hip, a feeling I don't like. I keep it close-by in the truck though :txflag:

https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/chl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
go to the bottom of the page. Self explanatory.

The FBI doesn't issue the Texas CHL. The most likely consequence of not correcting your mistake is delays, if DPS notices the discrepancies and has to waste time resolving them. If I was in your shoes, I would mail them a correction. For the price of a letter, it's cheap insurance. The choice is yours, as is criticizing people who "over think" their answers to n00b questions.

It is taking most folks 3 weeks to get the first update / entry in to the system and 45 days for manufacturing.

May I ask why you didn't use the online system? No notaries needed. Immediate scheduling of prints, etc.

Didn't know about applying online till after I mailed my packet. Our CHL instructor provided everything we needed to mail off so I used what he gave me. He also said it would take about 10 days to receive the letter to get my finger prints done. Its going to be a month before I get that.

The $140 check I mailed cleared my bank on 3/19, still shows Im not in DPS system yet. How can this be? They opened my packet got the check out and nothing else? I hope this is NOT the way DPS does business.

DPS has two addresses. The address with PO 15888 is supposed to be used if a payment is inclosed. The address with PO 4087 if there is no payment. It is my understanding the first location removes the check, then sends the packet to the second location. (I'm not implying that it goes thru the postal system again.)

THIS is exactly why I acquired a Utah CFP about a year after I got my CHL.....and in fact, when I renewed, my existing CHL expired (my fault) before the renewal application was approved. I was able to continue carrying because of my CFP. As it happened, I carried under that authority for about 25-30 days or so.

Ok thanks. I don't remember the address on the packet. Our CHL instructor already had the address on the packet when he gave it to us.
