I'm not willing to risk pressing the fact that it is not really contrasting. A number of the other hospitals have the same difficult to read sign setup. The Irving Baylor facitily only has the 30.06 sign on ambulance entrance. The LEO on a desk inside is a pretty good indicator, however. The South entrance, through the large office building, is unposted. I'm betting that the sign is applied to any connected part of the facility by LE and the Iriving DA, if it ever comes to that.
My approach is to assume that any larger medical facility associated with Harris or Baylor is posted unless I physically prove to myself that it isn't. I understand that is not the way that the TPC reads but I don't have the deep pockets to hire lawyers to take more of a purist approach.
Absolutely - my mother was in Baylor's All-Saints in Fort Worth for a couple weeks and they do the same white on glass letters. At the time I didn't have my license but I knew the laws and wondered about the "contrasting colors" part of their sign. I wouldn't carry past it now.
I have been to the local boondocks hospital here on many occasions (they have a branch of the cancer clinic I go to) and I always carry, they have the old signs up for me to disregard. Of course I subtract 2lbs off my weight for my all steel Kahr K9 - but don't tell anyone.

46.035 is poorly written at best! I have yet to figure out why the author started out with a fairly black and white description of where you cannot carry....then for some reason throwing in exceptions....
Seems like there should be some bright, young, upstart intern working for a State Rep. that could work up a matrix table of where you can, can't, needs sign info that could replace all of the double-speak in the code and make all of the CHL training easier.
Just saying...

Okie dokie , since I'm a friendly / harmless old guy the folks were very nice , I'll give them credit for that . Kell West Regional Hospital , talked to the head security person and although friendly assured me there was no CC with any kind of procedure . United Regional Health Care System ( the big , main hospital ) said NO CARRY ! Both said they had signs Guess I'm out of luck in my county , dont know if their signs are legal but I dont have the resources to test the system . DANG IT ! I think I answered My own question !!!!!

I would be wary if the hospital is a teaching hospital like UTMB, or Baylor. That seems to be a hiccup. We had a guy get life flighted to UTMB after a horrible car accident, and was charged because he had a concealed handgun. Took him two years to fight it, to get it dropped. He was lucky to have more fluid resources, but others with less financial resources would be in a worse situation. It wasn't fair in my opinion because quite obviously, he didn't willingly choose to bring his firearm into the teaching hospital but that didn't stop them from charging him.
The moral of the story is that even if something is logical, don't asume that it will be interpreted logically.,
