After looking at where the stay holes are at several ranges, I realized that they were concentrated to the left. Since then, I try to get a lane as far to the right as possible; preferably the one against the right wall.
May not make any difference, but it makes me feel proactive.
On the down side, it almost guarantees brass will get chunked on you.

NAK, I bet that is because most folks are right handed...If I got the right most lane, and a leftie was next to me on the left, I might offer to switch.
Both of us benefit. At any rate, it is a good point, and worth it if the lane is available.

Call me crazy, but I actually don't mind the occasional hot casing down the neck of my shirt when shooting my pistols. I figure if I can still aquire and hit CBM with that little distraction, it is all good. Now I am wondering if there is any data on the hottest brass. I mean is a .45 acp gonna land and burn more or longer than a .380? This should probably be a separate question in a new topic, so if anyone feels the need to respond, lat's start another thread. Though new here, I think that would be considered good manners.
My scary range story? After a guy shooting a 1911 rental had an FTF, he looked DOWN THE BARREL!!!
HOLY MOLY, the RO was calm in walking quickly over to assist him. My last 8 rounds were CBM on the target, but spread like I was using my 12 guage. I packed up and left. As the Sarge on Hill Street Blues so often said "Y'all be careful out there".

two weeks ago at carters country treischwig , we were on ceasefire status. Everybody stood waiting for the clear to fire. Then suddenly a dude with a 12 g wasnt paying attetion. He must have thought it was clear to shoot. We heard a big boom . He was at the 50 yd range. Everybody look at him and of course said something unaudible . Good thing everyone were done fixing their targets.
