I was watching "Greatest Tank Battles" on the Military Channel one of the American tank commanders in the Battle of 73 Easting during Desert Storm told of a veery dramatic one shot stop. He said an Iraqi soldier with an RPG was aiming at his tank so he told the gunner to shoot him. The gunner understandably shaken fired the main gun instead of the coax machine gun. The HEAT round vaporized the guy with the RPG. Now that's a one shot stop! :patriot: :tiphat:

There are so many variables to that info. Repeat after me. A handgun is not a substitute for a long gun. One shot stops or Hollywood stops as I call them are not the norm in any common handgun caliber. A 32 could work one time the 45 fail to one shot stop the next. Accurate and quick follow up shots first but in general bigger heavier and faster is better but is no guarantee.

Repeat after me.............

Not true.

See MoJo's post below.

That caliber is a guaranteed one shot stop as long as aim is true (or even relatively close!) "rlol"

I have seen many instances of anecdotal evidence of people shot multiple times with pistols, rifles, and shotguns, and kept going. One of them was a baddie that took a full 00-Buck load center mass, got up, swore, and told the cop "don't do that again, I'll go quietly." I've seen a dude who got caught in a dope gang shootout talking with paramedics, with multiple gunshots to head, torso, legs, and arms, yet still fully coherent and aware. I've seen dashcam footage of an officer putting 5 .357 Magnum rounds center mass into a baddie's chest, and the perp survived to face trial.

... for murder. The perp put a single .22 round from a tiny NAA derringer through the cop's heart.

Bullets are weird things. One dude might get hit in the head by a big whopping round, and it will never break bone, only travel around under the skin and leave nasty superficial surface wounds. Another will get hit in the same place by a .32 and go down for the count, dead before he hits the ground. It's not an exact science. Generally, bigger is better, and more is better.

... I prefer to carry something starting with .4, and I carry reloads.

No one ever left a gunfight cussing himself as a fool because he brought too much ammo.

"Greatest Tank Battles" . Event if shot by a tank -If the agressor is on drugs, it still may not stop the attack. We have learned this lesson watching the "Terminator". "rlol" :smilelol5:
