Anyone ever run into this before?
Something similar happened with me. My wife and I talked about OC last week. She asked if I was every going to OC, and explained what I see as the negatives. I tried to turn the tables by asking her how she would feel if we were out in public together and I was OC. After discussing this for a while she said she would prefer that I OC, but that I had to have a better looking gun and holster.
So now, I'm counting my nickels and shopping.
This is a perk I never considered my wife has always criticized my fashion sense I will have to introduce her to some custom leather sites to help me accessorize properly I don't want to look uncouth

I carry mostly IWB again after a week or so of OC, however, OWB is nice for comfort reasons.
My wife is IWB all the way. She feels that it gives her a tactical advantage, and that if she OC'ed she may get involved in a situation where BG tries to disarm her with OC'ed weapon.
I tend to agree that IWB is better choice for woman in particular, sorry if it sounds sexiest, I assure that it is not what I'm saying.
A guy or woman with self defense hand to hand training carrying OWB, reasonable.
Random guy or woman without self defense hand to hand training OWB, less reasonable but doable with proper situational awareness training/conditioning.
Anyone without either of those self defense awareness/hand to hand skills, I'd recommend IWB, exclusively.
Yes, my views on this have changed slightly, but that's my opinion, right now.

My wife surprised me at the Fort Worth Stock Show by trying on some OC shoulder rigs and asking for one. She thinks it will be much more comfortable and would get her to carrying on her person instead of in her purse. (She knows all of the reasons that purse carry is not preferred, but it's one of those "the one you have with you is better than the one you left at home" situations.)
I'm hesitant. I don't know that I want her OCing. We're still discussing.
The solution might be to get her a much smaller firearm that she can more easily carry on person concealed. Her current CCW is a Springfield XD Subcompact .40.

Since I open carry in uniform at work, I am used to the loss of tactical advantage, so I prize speed of presentation and accuracy of fire over surprise. When I OC it feels no different than when I am working.

I've found most people are oblivious to their surroundings, even in uniform people sometimes don't even notice we are armed, so take off the "look at me" clothes, and the gun carried in a good owb pretty much disappears if you go about your business and act naturally most people won't even see you at all.

I'd have .35 cents

I must say I am oblivious to this as well. I have not seen 1 OC since Jan 1. I have even ask a few of my local vendors I frequent, and they haven't seen any. Even though a couple have 30.06 and 30.07 signs coming they wouldn't stop any one from coming in. Strictly a corporate decision.
The store managers told me they won't stay on the door. I wonder why...

The are opposed to it as well.
I guess the point I'm making is that the exposure over time will relax the typical persons fear. But I still feel like you are setting yourself up for a bad day with open carry.

My wife constantly reminds me to carry a gun because if I don't she will at least in the vehicle.

An unusual situation, for sure. One of those "problems you don't mind having".
If my wife asked me to OC, I'd spend some time asking her why.... There's probably an important discussion to be had there that goes beyond how you carry the gun. Maybe in understanding the "why" there's a good solution that makes both of you comfortable.

This is it. First, buy her flowers and put a hand written note with them. That chick is a-okay. Second, it seems like a good conversation to have about the why. Maybe she has some fears. Maybe she likes you as arm candy. Maybe you are her security blanket and she wants that blanket to visually spread far and wide (well, I guess she already expressed that to some extent). I think if you get to the why, you might be able to address her wants and your preferred method of carry.
Maybe she just likes her man to wear some bling.

I'd have a enough nickels to buy a new gun, I hear the Micheal Berry Radio Show espouse the "tactical advantage" of CC every time the subject comes up. This morning he went so far as to predict that OC will be repealed because people put up 30.06 signs along with 07 or something to that effect. What an idiot, carry any way you choose but if you are for repealing OC now that it is passed and the 06/07 cat is out of the bag then you are anti gun IMHO. It's ashamed that there are only two or three English speaking radio stations left in Houston and none are worth anything.
CC passed the sky didn't fall, OC passed sky hasn't fallen yet, I don't think it will, we just need to keep moving forward using examples of expanding gun right doesn't cause the sky to fall. Next, no off limits areas???
I think the inclement weather has put a damper on OC just because it's been chilly out lately and the OC guns have been covered by jackets. I have OCed when I had the occasion to and found that my OC was almost always covered up by my jacket. It's funny how that tends to work in reverse when I CC

OC is super rare in the states where it has been legal for a long time. Especially so in the urban areas.
What does this mean for Texas OC ? Are we different? Maybe, but I'm not convinced.
I did notice in Atlanta, GA where I lived 2001-2014 that OC advocates who were heavy forum users would report on each of their OC 'walks/talks/public education/public protection' events.
This is the hobby or even life mission for some folks, but they are very few.

The few times I have OC, I haven't been wearing any thing with bright colors, Usually khaki colored pants, with a plaid or print shirt. My brown DeSantis holster blends in and as I stated in another thread, have only had one person ask about it ( another LTC holder) When I was a LEO I was very aware of my surroundings, and avoided places that might put me in too much close proximity to others, while in uniform, and I have found that those habits don't die out as a civilian. My situational awareness is greatly increased when OC.

My how this thread has migrated.

By no means am I opposed to open carry. And probably will myself. On occasion. I meet alot of public. I don't want to introduce any scare factor at all. It's just hard to do with company uniforms sometimes. The owner and i are working on a solution.

I'm not opposed to OC in principal and if I ever find a situation where it is in my best interest to do so I will. What I am personally opposed to is drawing unwanted attention to myself. This is also why I don't wear gold chains, loud shirts, piercings of any kind, or tattoos. Of course I tend to avoid places where the absence of the afore mentioned items would draw unwanted attention.
If I ever were to OC it would be such a subdued setup that most people would most likely not notice - no BQ rigs for me. Of course I was never one who desired to be the center of attention. So CC will continue to be my SOP.
Have yet to actually see anyone OC. Not really surprising as I lived in an OC state for 30 years without seeing a single person OC. Don't expect TX to be much different.
