About my choice for every day carry - Im still in question, and will take my time. I appreciate the elaboration on the Shield. Im still interested in it, but now, Im also considering a Glock 43 or 42, The Walter PPS, and the Springfield XDS. I want to put my hands on the Walter PPS.

What interested me so much about the Shield was the thin design, and the ability to grip it solid with the pinky finger as well. Too many small guns dont allow a solid grip.

I've had the shield with safety for about 3 years. I added the apex trigger kit and really like it a lot. I haven't fired one, but I did dry fire a glock 43 and hated the trigger. My only complaint is the rusting magazine release, but it hasn't affected the reliability of the gun yet. I plan on taking mag release apart soon to see what it loaks like.

I don't own a Shield but have fired them, nice pistols, but I would only carry the version without the thumb safety as I found it too small to use, even when not under stress. I generally carry a PM40 as a small carry auto, mine has served me well the last 10 years.

I have a G43 and an XDS-45. I like the XDS, but between those two, I carry the Glock. The G43 comes with a pinkey extension on one of the magazines. I added a 2-round extension to the backup magazine, making it an 8-rounder: https://www.rainierarms.com/concealed-c ... ock-43-g43


In any case, both are pretty nice little guns. The XDS was my go-to small gun when my primary carry was an XDM-45; but nowadays my primary carry is a Glock, so the G43 has become my small gun.

Has anyone here installed Mag Guts into their shield, for 1 extra round to make it 9 plus 1, or 8 plus 1?
I am worried about feeding issues.

I love mag-guts. It works great!!

My daily carry is a M&P Shield9 and I love the gun. I carry it in an Edge Works IWB holster.

I own an XDS-45 that I really like. Very accurate and attractive looking gun. I was going to make it my carry gun but it is hard to practice with after a while. The grip texture is a little more aggressive than I would like, but overall it is a very solid gun that i'm very happy with despite it not fitting the purpose I originally intended it for. I'll probably look into selling it in the future to fund another purchase because it deserves more than to just sit in my safe.

I have a friend who swears by shooting gloves for practice. I've never used them myself. I asked about the different "feel" when using the pistol for every day carry. He said he had no problem.

My Daily carry is a Shield 9mm in an Alien Gear Cloak 3.0. Very comfortable and easily concealed, even tucking the shirt in.

I may look at one of those TexasSully. The comfort of a proper is most important when carrying concealed.
