The end game is banning and confiscating all center fire semi-auto rifles as "weapons of war". This leaves you with bolt or lever action, maximum 5 rds, and tube fed .22 rimfire. That's all you need per the "sporting purposes" clause of the 2nd amendment.

Correct. But wait. Didn't Lee Harvey Oswald use an assault rifle? Or was it a bolt action with a scope? I am so confused.

Well, it wasn't a double shot weapon, so it's possible that it didn't have the proper adapter on it to actually be an assault weapon. Also, did the scope come from Piggly Wiggly?

So no scope = no assault weapon? My AR is safe?

Well, my AR has been used to kill 17 hogs in the past month. That's definitely a MSR purpose. And since I have a red dot no magnification sight, I guess that's not a "scope."
