Unless the FFL tells you, or you ask, you won't know. The majority of FFLs are type 1. Type 7s can manufacture firearms. There are other types that don't matter for this conversation. Some FFLs maintain multiple licenses for different aspects of their business.

To answer the question a bit more directly, no, FFLs do not report multiple sales of receivers.
Correct, a receiver is not a firearm so it doesn’t fall under the multiple rifle sales reporting requirements.
Thank you.
I thought that was the case because a stripped receiver is a firearm but shouldn't be a rifle or pistol until it has a barrel but wanted to check because ATF doesn't always follow logic.

If it is not considered to be a gun of some kind, then why do you have to fill out a 4473 for an AR lower?

I never said they make sense, I don’t understand much of what they do and sometimes they don’t understand it either

Q2.
What types of rifles are required to be reported?
A2. The rifle transactions that must be reported are dispositions of semiautomatic rifles capable of accepting a detachable magazine and with a caliber greater than .22 (including .223/5.56 caliber) to an unlicensed person. However, the reporting requirement does not apply to receivers for such rifles. You may contact the Firearms Technology Branch at (304) 616-4300 if you are unable to determine if the rifles are subject to the reporting requirements.

OK, so just to be clear.......if I bought 15 Remington 700 receivers, 15 Glock 17 lowers, and 15 Mossberg 500 receivers, they would all be treated the same as AR15 receivers for the purposes of ATF? .....not that I’d have any such intentions......

I believe multiple Remington 700 and Mossberg 500 purchases wouldn't be reported, even if they're complete firearms, because bolt action and pump action long guns are not subject to that requirement.
I suspect the Glock frames would be transferred as handguns, and multiple sales would be reported. However, IANAL nor do I hold a FFL these days.

The frames or receivers would not be reported, as they are not yet a pistol or rifle. They have no caliber, no barrel, etc.
Fun twist. Since a rifle receiver is not a 'rifle' you cannot purchase one from a dealer if you're under 21. 18 and over can buy a rifle/shotgun, but not a 'receiver'.
There's all kinds of fun you can have w/ ATF rules and regs.

I sure wish I could afford to buy multiple guns all at once.
Somebody was selling $30 lowers a while back.

Primary Arms in Houston had stripped Anderson lowers for $29.99!
I bought 3, picked up in person, for under $100.
If you aren't on some kind of list by now, you aren't doing something right!

I was tempted but still have two from a previous $30 sale I haven't built yet. However, I did yield to temptation and got a Spike's
Honey Badger lower for $75 from PA last week.
