This is not a Texas thing. This is an entitlement generation thing that is happening around the world. "I feel dissed so
I'm entitled to do whatever I think will even the score." In their minds right or wrong does not exist. Only payback.
Hitting, tackling, anything done to a ref on or off the field because of a call made ON the field is WRONG. Sometimes,
they miss things and/or make a wrong call but most of their calls, whether anyone else agrees, I believe are a mirror
of what the players do on the field.
I started playing football because I thought it was cool. When the coaches started to congratulate me on hits it got better.
There are not many things you can do as a teenager or adult where you get kudos for hitting others. Right or wrong,
it's what it is and football is one of those things.
When we first saw it happen, my wife & I agreed that he should have been arrested for assault right then. Removing the
team from the playoffs was unfortunate but, ALL participants of any sport must be aware of what 'Good Sportsmanship'
means. His attack on the referee was, IMO, an example of 'Poor Sportsmanship'.
There are consequences for our words & actions.
This entire post, like any of my posts like it or not, is my opinion only.

Texas HS football player blind sides a Ref.

Arrested for assault. Team now won’t be in playoffs.

Star defensive player. Reminds me of why I didn’t play football.
You didn’t play football because someone might hit a ref?
Edit: What sports/hobbies did you participate in, where there wasn’t a risk of another person’s bad sportsmanship couldn’t ruin it for everyone?
I didn’t play football because I would not have survived the first hit from that guy. I’m thinking a lot of college football quarterbacks are going whew, he’s not playing college football next year, probably ever.

I was 125 lbs in high school, art, chess and band for me. Yeah looking back it’s kinda sad.

Nah, I wasn’t far off from you. I was tall, but definitely a twig until about 21-22, and I started eating better, and exercising daily with purpose.... did wonders for me. Believe me, I got smoked daily during football season.

Abbott says Texas will build its on border wall. Seems about 4 1/2 months late to start, but better than never.

Sad that the states must now take up National Defense on their own.

Think we can talk him into building it along New Mexico and Arizona, and then turning north to block out California too?
